I'm trying to re-install XP on my pc but when it gets to the end of the 'registering components' stage, it freezes up and stops installing. The cursor still moves but theres just no progress with the installation after that point. Any clues as to what the problem might be?

scratched disk? hack copy? homemade slipstream with sp2? or just a plain legal new copy?
