I didn't know there was one, or that i needed it. what is this you speak of?
 
Do the people know you're going to be logging their conversations and you're going to be watching everything they talk about?

Im pretty sure thats illegal depending whos machine your putting it on. How would you like somebody to log all your conversations? Theres a sticky at the top of this forum with a freeware database.

You can use a client like Miranda to log your converation with someone (both sides) that is the only IM client Ive ever used Im sure there is similar functionality in other clients.

Spyware or Adware per se isnt illegal, it depends on how it is distributed (with or without consent)

but asking for any kind of keylogger that would be maliciously employed will not only get this thread locked, but the poster banned, fair warning ;)
 
I guess I should rephrase my post. It would be illegal to my understanding if placed on somebody elses computer without their knowledge and/or consent. But if you were part of an FBI investigation and were asked to put a logger on a computer belong to say somebody suspected to be an 3vil alien planning world domination with another alien and they were discussing it online then I suppose that'd be ok. ;)
 
They have programs for this that they put on computers they've confiscated before they give it back. Without a warrant technically they shouldn't be doing it otherwise (such as prior to some sort of badshit happening).

maybe make a program and get them to install it and you put spyware in it and discretely tell them in the EULA...... :rolleyes: :rolleyes:

sorry buddy shes allready cheatin on ya with me...just ask me for our conversations insted of spying on her ;)

and if a keylogger is what you're looking for, the trojan will never get by an antivirus updated within the last 2 years...so no such luck buddy...
 
Keyloggers and other security spy programs are legitimate as long as they are used on your own personal or business property. Parents can spy on their kids and employers can spy on the employees, but you cannot legally spy on someone else. It equates to wire tapping or reading their mail and could land you in jail as a worse case scenerio. So don't go there ;)

Isn't an employer spying on employees spying on somebody else? Any US business would get there ass sued off for spying on employees that's for sure. (unless they were told that they were being monitored)
 
nope, its the business's computer, they are simply monitoring what is being done with their property. And covering their own ass. Now if the spy on you in the restroom thats a different matter :p
 
I had to research this a little and damn you guys are right. Employers/Parents whoever the owner maybe of a network, computer or a room in an office building they can monitor you without your knowledge. Surprised me quite a bit. let me clarify
I dont care if you go to Jail either
installing a keylogger on your own computer and any accounts you administer is up to you, there are plenty of commercial programs, trying to install a "stealth" keylogger on a system you dont own is hacking and illegal.

and persisting in requesting information about illegal activities in the forum is against the rules
