WHY CAN I NOT TUNE THE DAMN CAR RIGHT BEFORE A RACE?!?!?!

I WANTS A DAMN AUCTION HOUSE

Game is so purty though. Anyone else play it? I'm thinking of getting the wheel for it. There is not a huge jump in GFX over previous Forzas but it seems more fluid now.

one thing i did not like about this game is the sound, the sound in Forza 4 was much better IMO

I think that the dynamics of the engine sounds are better. I noticed quite a bit of depth to them when I was driving the Abarth Punto, of all things. I think the overrun sound is more realistic and makes me quite happy. The waste gate sound on turbos is pretty good, too. Overall I think 5 makes better use of surround sound.

Graphics are not a huge jump, but the use of subsurface scattering makes me happy: no more blinding HDR coming off the asphalt! The biggest improvement for me is the surface textures are much more realistic and add to the immersion factor for me.

Even with just a controller I can tell the physics model is much improved. I am going to be buying the Thrustmaster TX myself very soon because I can never stop thinking about how much better the game would be with a wheel while I'm playing it.

To add to that, I was very impressed with the feed back in the triggers. Do the pedals in the ThrustMaster have feedback also?

No, the pedals do not. The feedback that you're feeling through the triggers would come through the wheel FFB instead.

I am going to be buying the Basher Boards CPX adapter to use my Fanatec CSR Elite Pedals with it.

The pedals that come with the TX are very low-quality. The Fanatec pedals I have are made completely of metal and weigh a good 30 pounds. The brake pedal uses a load cell so it acts more like the brakes in a real car. You also have several mounting options, as well. I have my brake and clutch pedals mounted so they hinge at the top like a real car, using an inversion kit. Beyond that you have the option of adjusting the tension and resistance of all the pedals. These pedals alone made a big difference in my virtual driving ability with the CSR wheel.

what do the fanatec pedals give you over the thrustmaster pedals? (other than a clutch)

The clubsports use a different type of sensor. It's not position based but pressure. Much more realistic and makes it easier to trail brake and stuff. I mostly hated them. Made my feet sore from being way too stiff--think I had a bad unit. Hated the company, too. Absolute pain in the ass to deal with couple years back, hopefully they are a little more with it now. They said "we're having growing pains". I still have free shipping on any product from Fanatec but I don't feel like racing lately.

The game is great but going by the trailers and details I have seen of Project Cars, they better step it up

Well Project Cars is being released a full year after Forza 5, so I'm sure we'll be burned out and ready for a new racing game. But I do hope it does well enough to cause developers to step up their game in driving sims like the original Gran Turismo did.

If rumor has it we will have forza horizon 2 this year. I really hope so! Love horizon

Oh man, I absolutely love Horizon too. As much as I love circuit racing, I have never had so much driving in a game as much as Horizon. Actually being able to put the full 900 degree range of motion of my steering wheel to use probably had a lot to do with it .

I see, thanks for the info, is there such a thing as force feedback pedals?
Correct me if I'm wrong, but I don't think there is at the consumer level. The game would have to take advantage of such a feature to be of any use, though.

Forza 5 is from a team who has the resources of MS and been doing this for years now, not to mention they were on part 5. It should have all those features and then some

I believe Best Buy and Amazon.com are selling Forza 5 for $39.99 right now. I'm tempted to finally grab it, for a little change of pace from Titanfall.

I have seen the digital download codes of Forza goiing for 20-25 and disc copies around 30 used

I snagged mine used for $20. :p

But if you want "ze cars" you will pay out of your nose ~.~ I'll wait for horizon. They should really make all of your DLC purchases pass on from each version of the game.

I'm almost at Tier 6 on Rewards, currently getting 1 million/month at Tier 5. Need to buff up my Horizon points ;).

Yeah I don't like how you can't quit after a race is over during an event. You have to wait for it to load the next race.

Huh? I quit after a race quite often to switch cars...

But the interface in Forza has always been terrible. This is still one of the games where I always find myself fighting with it. It takes too long for the menus to become responsive after transitions, and the selections don't wrap. When I studied game design it was shown that menu selections that do not wrap is not proper menu functionality, so that just reinforces my distaste for it.

And why in the hell does it still take 90+ seconds to load a race? It's not like it needs to load anything from the disc. If this was a game on the PC with the same specs as the XBONE it would probably take 30 seconds to load a race at most.

Still having a lot of fun, especially now that I have figured out a good way to deal with the AI.

what are you doing, because the drivetar AI is really keeping me away. too much fucking bumper cars at the higher difficulty levels

How is the vehicle selection and reward system? I enjoyed Forza 4 on xbox, and I'm thinking about getting this for One. My only hold up is looking back at all the $$$ I spent on F4 DLC, I don't want to do that again.

There are many cars to choose from earning money in game and thru rewards at forzamotorsport.net is easy. There are of course dlc cars also but I haven't needed any yet although ill probably buy the full cars dlc pass once it hits a sale.

not as many cars as in FM4 and even fewer are new to FM5 that weren't in FM4. no cars given as a reward, economy is now closer to FM4 in grind to purchase. max car cost is 2 mil credits, 70k given with each level.

DLC cars are first time free in game. so DLC becomes worthwhile, not just for the variety but also for the collection

The key is try as hard as possible to avoid contact with them. I know this is extremely difficult due to their idiotic nature, but you need to find ways to do it. I notice that they become less aggressive and less likely to hit you and actually more likely to make mistakes of their own and take out other drivatars when avoiding contact. The best place to start is figure out how to make your way around the outside of the first turn.

As an example, at Barcelona I will try to brake while staying as close as possible to the car ahead on the left side of the track, and then cut the next left-hander. The sweeping right-hander after that allows you to build up more speed than those on the inside. I'm usually around 8th after the first two turns and in 6th by the fourth turn. I try to shoot for at least 6th place after the first turn shuffle, then it's easy enough to race normally past the next 3 cars before the end of the race at that point.

But there are some tracks where you just can't do this. At Sweden and Long Beach you unfortunately have to drive like a jerk to get to the top 3. At Road America and Mazda Raceway it's all about anticipating when the drivatars are setting you up to be t-boned (yes, they actually do this), but these are actually a few tracks where you can be successful while driving completely clean. At Le Mans, both Bugatti and La Sarthe, the drivatars are simply too slow to keep up.

Unfortunately they have set up the reward system to push sales of tokens at a ratio of 100 tokens:1 US dollar, with 1500 tokens being approximately equal to 750,000 credits. In other words they believe that being able to buy a Daytona Coupe in the game is worth $30 actual...

You can earn credits from Forza Rewards, which at the top tier you are gifted 2,000,000 credits every 30 days/1 month. To reach the top tier you have had to been playing every Forza since the second game to realistically reach the amount of points needed. Beyond that I have found myself earning the most money over time by completing the Racing league (F1, IRL, P1). Races are only up to 5 laps in duration depending on the length of the track. The 45% bonus from the difficulty settings I use plus the 65% bonus from drivatar difficulty has me earning around 20,000 credits every 6 minutes in an F1 race, plus 70,000 credits from the leveling bonus that happens every 2-3 races. That works out to be around 400,000 - 550,000 credits per hour of drive time.
