I have had this problem, as I know others have. The new NV5 revision 2 emits an extremely audible clicking noise when installed. It turns out the problem comes with the amount of tension put on the backplate. After close to an hour of experimenting I found a tension that provides a good balance between noise and performance.
***I wash my hands of all liability***
All tightening should be performed by hand, not a drill.
1- Tighten all four screws to their max, until they cannot be tightened any further with reasonable force. The metal backplate should be bent visibly towards the card.
2- Turn each screw one revolution left (until they feel slightly loose).
3- The backplate should now be almost horizontal but should still be bent a little towards the card.
4- This is different from stock instructions which call for a purely horizontal backplate. I noticed a horizontal backplate has the clicking noise and actually has temperatures of 3* worse than my method.
Any feedback on this? Thanks to waterboy787 for helping me get started! I'm gonna experiment with further backplate ideas such as using the standard backplate or using the stock HS as a backplate... Any other ideas are appreciated!
