To start off i have the Asus k8v se deluxe. It supports SATA, but the problem im getting is during the initial setup of Windows XP within five minutes of doing w/e its doing the system comes up with an error " Windows can not find any hard drive"

any insight why this problem is showing up?

thanks!

It doesn't seem too common anymore, but you may need to use a floppy drive to load the SATA controller drivers during the XP setup. The first question that needs to be answered is, does the BIOS recognize the drive?

Well it's turned on in the bios, but i can't seem to find anything in the bios execpt for the boot piority(sp?) which shows the SATA WD hard drive. So i went to the asus's website and download this < http://support.asus.com/download/download.aspx?SLanguage=en-us > under IDE and Windows XP. So i got windows to start in the beginning and find the floppy disc containing those files but in the end when you hit the Enter button to start installing windows, boom it goes back saying it can't find a hard drive.
