Finally, a headless iMac!

I am a terrible, horrible x86 user, and I am wholly impressed by the minimac. I did the calculations yesterday. I can fit 30 minimacs into my current case [Lian Li PC 70]. Not only is it tiny, but it's cute and not a dog.

I've been a PC only user for 15 years; This has opened my eyes.

mwarps - that was funny "I am a terrible, horrible x86 user" well we all have faults and one of mine is I am too...but I also use Macs ;) one of the questions floating around work right now is if they will run OSX Server and if so just think of the posibilities for a cluster node!

As I said, 30 in my case. that's 42 GHz of distributed computing power.

lol...glad you can laugh about it...I do wonder if the iHome pics were fake or if they were from a prototype/mock up/concept cause they were fairly close to this...it was a little wider and maybe a little thiner but looked good other than that

as for market share...I think this is going to go a long way in bringing them there PC users into the Apple world if for nothing more than a down and dirty [GASP] e-Machine [/GASP]...I am probably going to get one for my wife since her old HP is about 4 years old and I can't upgrade it anymore for her :D woohoo...an excuse to buy a new computer!!!

upgrade you ask? yeah... remember the majority of people who buy pcs? you know the one's that aren't [h]ard? the ones that believe the best buy rep that scares them into the extra warranty for their video card because ati is just so hard to deal with. You bet yeah.

I've already sold two friends on the mac mini with just the 512 upgrade. Why? because they bought Celeron and PIII systems when they started college in 2000 and those things are dying and they need something new. sure i could piece together a mobo upgrade, new ram (still SD here folks) cpu, vid card, etc... but for someone that just does word, IE and aim $479 for a box that's a small as a cd rom, that is more resilient in terms of viruses and spyware (been on the average user’s box? I have, I have 1,000 freshmen to tend after, they don’t know jack about sp2, updating winbloz or antivirus), that looks kick ass and is a mac (keep in mind now that apple is becoming as status symbol with the ipod prevalence on college campuses)... yeah these things wwill sell, in droves.

If i didn't just buy a pb i'd have one on order now. heck, i just sold 30 ibook 1ghz laptops in three days because they're only $599. People wanted a cheap apple laptop to take notes on and do ie, so they sold like hot cakes.

the point? this isn't for the [h]ard users, come on, IT'S a ATI 9200!! this is a cheap cheap, very small and stylish entry into the world of OSX. it's beautiful, elegant and cost effective. i for one commend apple for finally realizing the potential of this bargain basement nich market.

i find it amazing that apple can engineer everything so perfectly that each update gets them more switchers after every revision. the ONLY thing the have to do is run a campaign that informs people you can put your existing cds onto itunes and that you are NOT required to use the itunes music store. i talk to so many people and they ask me about my ipod, the first question is "how much did all that music cost you?" and everytime i just explain to them you just import your cds into the itunes SOFTWARE, not the music store and that you have to get all of your music from there. ahhhh. that definately got some anger off my back :)
