I know its a older game but I never played it before. My son got it for me over the holidays. I just installed it last week. Nice game.
My question is ive been stuck on a level for 3 days now and can't seem to get past where I am. I am on the carrier and the helicopter is flying around and I am just below the top deck. I can shoot the guy out of the helicopter but I can never last more than 30 seconds on the top deck before I get killed. Any pointers on how I can kill all the guys on the top deck? and proceed to the next level?
 
I had to do that section several times before I passed it. I think I killed the guys first while ducking behind the cover at the same time. Then I went down the hatch again and came back up to take pot shots at the chopper while ducking under cover. Takes a while to get it down... Patience, my good man! :D
 
Run like a bitch to the Minigun and just wipe out all the weenies on the outside of the bridge then the chopper :)
 
bah I have it on Veteran or w/e and it wasn't so bad. This is what I did... get out the hole, run straight forward towards where the helicopter will come up, and hide behind one of the boxes blocking your body from the men while being exposed to the helicopter. Now you unload on the gunner in the chopper. When the gunner is dead, the helicopter just goes away. Next you kill the guys on the 2nd floor of the deck, there's about 2. After that it's nothing really, just take your time and kill the rest of the men on the deck.

The game was pretty boring, I played past that level a bit and just stopped, haven't played it since.
 
My problem was after that, where the hell do you go? I don't like games that are sooo open to the point where it makes you think "what would I do", becasue I would just end up getting lost like I did :p

I think you head somewhere off to the side of the carrier and jump in a boat hanging off the deck. It's been a while...
 
I'm just curious, how good does FarCry run on your PC and what details are you using? I got it aswell, and it's been running a little buggy. :(
 
I kept popping my head out of the hole and shooting then taking cover until the chopper was dead and then I bum rushed the guys at the back of the ship behind the boxes. I took cover there and picked off the guys at the front of the ship one by one.
 
Shoot the guy out of the helicopter to neuter it. Then just jump off the side of the ship where the Heli first appeared. When you hit the water look for the motor raft tied to the carrier and shoot the ropes attaching it to the carrier.

As soon as you get up the ladder go prone (being sure you have cover between the decks minigun and two guys behind the crates at the back) and shoot the guy in the helicopter. You have near zero recoil when prone so just fire away with your p90. Once that guy's down go after the decks minigun next. After that, fight your way to the other side of the carrier and shoot the chains off the liferaft to ride it out of the level.

Get latest patches, latest video drivers (especially if you have an FX card). And most importantly, get more RAM. Before BF2, this game was king of the memory hogs.

I have all the default settings that were set during the install. I think its all set to medium settings.

At first while playing I had some freezes and then ati recovery error. I investigated and installed all the patches here, http://patches.ubi.com/far_cry/
After that I have had no problems since.

You should have no problems running FarCry being you have almost the same cpu as I have and you have a better video card than I have. The only advantage I have is the 800mhz front side bus. But I do not think that would help on gaming that much. Just make sure you have all the game patches and the latest ati drivers and you should be fine.


To everyone else thanks for the replies i'll keep plugging away and try and find some cover while on the top deck.

you can bypass top of carrier all together if you want to .. go up ladder to trigger chopper , then go back down to middle exposed decks so you can shoot at chopper and then take cover behind the half wall while you reload ....

when chopper goes boom ..then go to ladders (still on exposed deck part) and go as far as you can without going up ladder and go prone and aim at the cables that are holding up the boat your supposed to get to and shoot cables so the boat drops ...

then just hop into the water and swim over to the boat and get the heck out of there ..dont have to fight any of the guys on the top deck at all then.

forget about teh other enemies on teh carrier,

then run straight towards teh left side of teh carrier,

jump into teh water,

swim towards teh crack area (sandy bit),

look up,

shoot teh chains holding teh boat,

then get in and drive towards teh thing on teh radar,

simple . :D

If I can do it you can.

Wow.. that was teh most annoying post to read, ever.

I did it the real way.. I killed the guy in the chopper first, then took out the guy on the miniguns, and the rest were a piece of cake.
 
Far Cry was a hard game. My save bugged right after I beat the half mutant scientist guy at the end. I could never beat him again after that. After I uninstalled it, I could never bring myself beat it again.
 
Actually..there's an easy to way to this. Backtrack the level and go back to where the front of the ship is. When you're on the left side, you can see the orange life boat that you need to get to exit the level. Basically, just lean left and aim at the chains of the boat, drop it down and jump down to ride it, and its over!

yeap that's teh way I spell it now and no one will stop me from doing it . :D

I did it the [H]ard way, by shooting the chopper guy and then the rest with the far-side Minigun......but I pegged the guys on the end of the upper deck when I was on the deck below, before I climbed to the top of the carrier.

If you get really swamped.....gamespot has nice walk-through guides.....when Im stumped I used them all the time......FarCry is cool because there are so many ways to solve the same puzzle.

Enable HDR if your system can handle it.......really brings the game to life.....

lol its about 3 yrs old now and I still havnt finished it, its teh only game I havnt so far :D .

Update. I made it thru the level by going down one level on the carrier and shooting the guy out of the helicopter. Then going back up to the top deck and ducking behind some cover and waiting for the bad guys to come to me and picking them off 1 at a time. :)

Now I am on the top of the mountain with the satellite where there are missiles or bombs being fired at me. This seems to be a fun and challenging game.

Incase you haven't noticed yet. Shooting in farcry is a b*tch, especially if you're coming from earlier shooters. The guns spray pretty wildly, you can empty an entire clip and not hit someone ten feet away but they do pretty good damage when they do hit. You're learn to go prone here and shoot in single shots in these game pretty quick.

When you go up against a lot of soldiers at medium range. Don't panic. Just hit the dirt, and take your time shooting off their heads.

Then after going through the game and mastering shooting. Go play WarRock, the shooting mechanics is almost the same. You'll be a god ;)

You don't even have to kill the helicopter while you're on the carrier. It's much easier to jump off, swim for cover and then shoot the guy from there.
