• Some users have recently had their accounts hijacked. It seems that the now defunct EVGA forums might have compromised your password there and seems many are using the same PW here. We would suggest you UPDATE YOUR PASSWORD and TURN ON 2FA for your account here to further secure it. None of the compromised accounts had 2FA turned on.
Once you have enabled 2FA, your account will be updated soon to show a badge, letting other members know that you use 2FA to protect your account. This should be beneficial for everyone that uses FSFT.

Have you ever watched someone click on one of those Facebook games, or surveys, or some other seemingly endless applications that then ask for a laundry list of access to the account? Have no fear as a bunch of those apps are getting the axe as reported by Reuters. And if you signed off on those apps having all that access, you have no one to blame but yourself....mom!

The apps were suspended pending a thorough investigation into whether they misused any data, said Ime Archibong, Facebook’s vice president of product partnerships.

Facebook said it has looked into thousands of apps till date as part of an investigation that Chief Executive Officer Mark Zuckerberg announced on March 21.

I am starting to think that before you can use an app you have to answer each individual permission question and they have to state exactly why that access is needed and what they use that data for, not just we might need it bull shit. Also it has to be in PLAIN ENGLISH.

For example:

Access to Contacts. (Fakebook, LinkedIn)
We promise to scan and copy your contacts and keep a list of them in our unsecure cloud. At a later date we will regularly spam the living hell out of your contacts using your name as a reference. (I'm thinking of you, Fakebook, Linked In etc.)
You agree to give us access to your contacts and allow us to use your name in our spam campaign. YES/no

Access to your Microphone. (for a weather app?)
We listen to everything you say and upload it to a 3rd party to scan for words like cold, hot outside, the sound of teeth chattering, thunder and anything you do in the bedroom because we are freaks like that.
That data is then parsed and sold to Dentists, sunscreen advertisers, clothing manufacturers (jackets, lingerie), sun-glass marketers and umbrella makers.
You give this app access to your microphone and we will record and store everything, even when the device is off. YES/no

and the bazillion other permissions including documents, photos, camera, ad nauseum.

But I thought they fixed everything after they found out in 2014... and it was only that one bad company

so a sleight of hand type of trick.. hey look at these bad apps were are banning.. see how good WE are..

nice move.
