Currently I have 4x250g SATA drives in my main PC. As I travel a lot I want to be able to carry my storage with me. Unfortunately, carrying a 60lb case is out of the scope of what I want. What I am really looking for is a single box(save the power cord) that can do 4 SATA drives and can do USB or firewire connections. I've looked online via a google search and nothing really in my price range. I know it should be expensive, but I just wanted to make sure I'm not missing something cheaper, or something homebrew. Thanks!

just curious as to why you need all that storage to go mobile?

anyhoo.. you'd be better off leaving that at home and getting a 500GB or 750GB HD and an external case.. 1 drive and you can have a backup at home.

agreed. For the price of a mobile 4 disk SATA external enclosure, you can easily get a 750GB drive with a single disk enclosure, essentialy having more diskspace in the end for the same price as just having a bulky 4 disk external storage to haul around.
