As you can see in my sig my system specs what I own my problem is this:
After purchasing my PC in May of this year, I spend the most part of June and July building and finding the max OCs of my system (remember, 24 hours of RAM and CPU, and also had work too so not that much free time). After finding the max stable OCs, they were:
CPU: 2000(500)x7 @ 1.475v (1.43v)
RAM: 385MHz @ 3-3-3-8 2.2v
Throughout august, I would download a bunch of stuff and put it on my raid partitions, leaving my PC on most of the time. Finally moving into my dorm room in September, I still have not had any issues. Approximately 2 weeks ago, my computer would turn off at random times, not many but it shouldn't do it at all. I measured the wattage I am pulling from the wall and it is 280w under idle and 300w under load, nowhere near maxing out the PSU. After blowing one turn off off, It happened again, this time more frequently, especially when I game. Thinking it might be my OC, it manually put everything back at stock (Auto for voltages and Auto for speeds). This seemed fine for a while until it would continue to persist. So I ran windows memtest and I got an error within an hour. I took one stick out and everything seemed to be working good until it would continue to happen. Then, I hit 'reset defaults' in the BIOS.
After selecting it, my comp would restart right before it actually posts, and this would loop if kept on. No video would ever show of the boot screen. After resetting the CMOS manually (with the jumper) all hell broke loose. With both of my stick in the blue slots, I got a 1d error code with the board. Taking one stick out gave me a C1 error code along with long, continuous beeps. Either stick in would just give me C1, any stick, any slot. At this point, I was stumped. I borrowed my friends 2x1GB OCZ Platinum ram and the comp booted right up...either stick in and both. I then turned it off and put one of my sticks back on. It booted. I turned it off and put it in a black slot. C1 error code. I then put it back in the blue slot that it was JUST in...C1. Replacing that with the OCZ made the computer boot right up. The only thing I can think of was that the modded BIOS that I flashed it with (don't ask) could have caused instability and screwed things up. That wasn't it as after booting up with the OCZ, I reflashed it to the P30 that I just got from eVGAs site. I put back in my ram and same problems with the C1 and 1d codes.
At this point, I'm stumped especially for what happens next: After playing around and putting the OC back ONLY on my CPU (2000 x8) with the same voltages, do I boot windows and run Sp2004. After about an hour, I get a BSOD to the SAME DAMN OC that I had running fine for the summer (same temps...it was not overheating). I restart and up the voltage a tad, but this time, right after the HDD-BIOS screen, the PC turns flat out off. I turn it back on (but all the lights inside (RAM and such) flicker for a few seconds which is really odd)) and after that BIOS-HDD screen, turns off. It does this EVERY time I turn it on. Thinking its the OC, I reset the BIOS. Still does it. My next theory is that maybe the PSU is flipping out for whatever reason. I unplug my 4 750GB HDDs and take out the RR Raid card. It boots and everythings good. I put the RAID card back in...boots fine. I plug in the HDDs (where not even an hour ago, it wouldn't even let me really turn on the PC), it boots..and has been since.
Almost done! Wanna hear something really freaky? I take my RAM and go to my friends comp down the hall (who also has E6300, Asus MB and some corsair RAM) and put my RAM in his comp..boots up fine...either stick and both sticks. At this point, I'm going !!!!. So its not the RAM for working in my friends comp but its not the board for working with the OCZ. Right now, I put the OC back on my CPU but instead of my 500MHz FSB, I am at 1555 (388)x9 (Because my board doesn't want to boot if anything is at the x8 multi..I dont know..it did this over the summer too when I was OCing..very odd..it would just hang and then post but show the stock/default settings but after going in the BIOS would it show the settings I put). So now, I am running SP2004 with the x9 multi settings, 1.475v and its been going good for.....100 minutes...hardly anything from 'stable'.
Finally, here I sit after spending the last 15 minutes writing that and the last 3 days going 'WTF'. Any ideas suggestions as to what this could be? RAM? MOBO? PSU? I'm stumped. I thought it was the RAM until I tested it in my friends comp. Eclipse said its the mobo, but how can it be if im running the OCZ perfectly fine (I havent done any memory stress tests on the OCZ, Ive been trying to keep my system from turning off and trying to figure this out). And a small hint of me could think its the PSU which may have overvolted the board somehow to cause instability? I don't know but I don't think thats the culprit. Any help would be greatly appreciated, and sorry its so long, I just didn't want to leave anything out.
