No matter what *nix CD I use, I get errors for the live--

"User Unknown to the underlying module"

I am booting off live CD, but I never get past the load bar.

I'm using a 7.10 disk that works with my laptop. I don't understand the problem.

Vista is on the system :(

system specs in sig

7900gs

**note
I have now swapped ram, reseater it, switched cabling for DVD drive, tried changing cables to harddrives, etc...no luck

One computer claims no errors on the cd, the desktop however claims 4.

RAM showed no errors, but I'm at a lost.

not sure what to say, but maybe try reburning it on another disc? I've had odd issues with discs before like that where it would work on one but not the other

Well, I bought a win xp cd from my college for $10, installed that, and then used the same disk to install to a virtual machine...

I'm happy now :)

I needed it for the basis of a class I'm taking next semester requires me to either be in the unix lab or have a unix/linux install on my computer

I needed the windows for certain win only programs and my zune
