What is the difference between DVI-D and DVI-I?

Also, where can I get a good DVI cable? (It only has to be three feet or less)
 
I heard monoprice is a good place to buy from and cheap too. Im going to place some order later and it explains the difference pretty well
 
DVI-A - analog DVI connector. Uncommon.
DVI-D - digital DVI connector.
DVI-I - essentially just a connector for both DVI-D and DVI-A cables.

As for where - I really don't know who's good to buy from and not. I'd like to know too.
 
I assume the 24AWG cable is OOS, since both your links go to the 28AWG.

AWG is the wire gauge, and 28 AWG is a smaller wire diameter compared to the 24 AWG. 24 AWG can carry more electrical current compared to the 28 AWG. I'm not an electronics whiz so I don't know if this is really important for DVI.

As for length, you should be fine with the 28 AWG if it's less than 6 feet. You'll notice that the very long cables are 24 AWG (the 50 foot ones).

According to that website, AWG is how many of those wire you could fit into a wire 1" thick, therefore they say that a 24AWG wire is better as it is "thicker". Since they also say that it's good up to 13 feet, I think I'm fine, but I'm no expert..

Anyone have experience with 28AWG clables??

I was wondering the same thing, so consider it bumped.

For 6ft of cable - is 24AWG cable going to be any better than 28AWG?
 
The thicker wire could be better shielded and will have less resistence over a longer length. If you plan to go the complete 13 feet then ya get the more exspensive one.

For a 6' ~ 15' run there will be no difference between monoprice's 28awg and 24awg cables.

If you plan on running longer >15' lengths and at higher resolutions then buy the 24awg cable instead (this would eliminate the chance of sparklies, blocking and other digital anomolies)

I use monoprice's 15' 28awg DVI-D single-link cable on my projector, and even with the picture blown up to 100" diagonal 1280x720P i notice no sparklies or other ill-effects.

I guess I'll save a couple of bucks as I'm only going for a 3-6' cable
