Dual Display casing random lockups/freezing?

So here is my problem. Since September 2007 i've been using a single display running under my HD2900XT. It ran perfectly fine. no freezing/lockups.

I recently bought a new monitor. to dual display with. 2 22" LCD Displays. I got this on this past saturday. and the very next day i experienced my first lockup/freeeze. It happened out of nowhere. it wasn't even running 100% CPU i was just surfing the net when this happened.

I restarted the computer. all went well until the next day after that. again it froze again. Then it happened again yesterday and again today.

now my system is powered by a 700W OCZ GameXStream Power Supply which only came with 2 6-pin PCI-E connectors. so i'm using that instead of the 6 and 8 pin connector. From my understanding the extra 2 pin in the 8 pin connector is for overdrive and since i'm not overclocking it it shouldn't matter.

I theoretically should have enough power supply to its not an underpower issue. My theory in this problem is either the video card doesn't like dual display, the display drivers havent fixed the problem yet. or overheating (somehow).

It's using stock cooling btw. I've had dual display on this system before and suffered similar problems. going to single display seemed to have fixed this issue. but i've read back then that 7.6 drivers were causing this issue. i'm now using 8.1 drivers. so if this issue is the same as the one i experienced back then. it means after 5 drivers update the problem has yet to be solved. that is pretty sad. OR it could just be my video card is defective. which would suck cause i dont want to have to go through the trouble of RMAing it and going days or weeks without a computer to play games on.. :p

I'm open to suggestions. as i do not like to keep force restarting my computer. and i like to keep my computer running 24/7 yes i know it's bad for the environment.
