I have WoW and the expansion Burning Crusade (retail versions) and valid account.

Now I know I am going to be upgrading my computer soon and I hate installing the disks over and over again.

My original WoW disk 2 crapped out on me, and luckily we are able to download the entire game from blizzard (then put in valid CD key).

I was wondering if something like that exists for Burning Crusade? I can not download it from the Blizzard site because I have already upgraded my account. I just want the honking copy on my hard drive (external) to make an easy install.

Any thoughts? I'd also consider a DVD copy.

last time i installed wow on this computer i downloaded WoW and BC, they are both available from the account management page on worldofwarcraft.com

just copy your WoW folder to a safe place, no need to install or download anything again.

You can download Burning Crusade. The link to download it shows up under my Account Management page right next to 'Account Type.'

I fail to see how downloading it is going to be any faster than just using the disks, though...

When I downloaded the BC version, it wanted me to have the original WoW installed in order for the BC version to be installed. Luckily I had the original WoW discs with me.

So just a warning, you need the original already installed to be able to use the downloadable BC version

thanks for the help, I'll look into that.

I can hit update and walk away instead of swapping 4 disks, makes it faster and easier.

Best way is to install vanilla WoW then install BC. Do all the updates (should take a decent time doing that). Turn around then copy the whole game directory to a backup drive for whenever you want to reinstall windows.

I would still hold onto the CDs or compress them into one DVD just for the simple install.

So basiclly in short(if you backup the game directory), install from CD/DVD(don't have to bother doing updates), and just copy and past your old dir over the new one and your done.

I do it for all my MMOs that I have played because I hate patching over and over again when I reinstall my OS.

Dear God Why? ....."just put down the gun sir... its going to be ok". There are other games out there you can have just as much fun with without selling your soul.

Please... wont you help stop the slaughter.

sorry to read you sold your soul.

many people, including myself, drink and eat in moderation. i also play WoW in moderation.

please go somewhere else.

on a crappier note, my hard drive is failing. so, I may need this sooner than expected. ah well, maybe I'll update after vacation.

I have tried the copy and paste of the WOW folder and it did not work for me. Probably doesnt help that I did it the same day a new patch was released and that probably screwed things up.

QFT. Not everyone that eats and drinks is a fat alcoholic.

Copying and pasting did not work for me either, but I attributed that to a failing drive. Sucks when the back up drive fails. At least I have a back up to the back up!

I downloaded everything as suggested and it worked fantastic!

Thanks, and I am closing the thread.
