I am new to this type on game. I have only played counter strike competitvely until now. I switched to Doom3 because of the CPL world tour. In CS you can change rates like updaterate, cmdrate and rate. Are there any rates that you can change that will effect multiplayer?

theres no reason to change anything, hell i was hosting a server on my 30k/s upload cable connection (thx comcast 
) and everyone in a 4 player game (except me obviously ) was getting 60-70 ping. not great but very playable.

you can look there for console commands. if they're not up yet i'm sure they will be soon. are you talking about playing on pubs though? because if the server is trash, it doesn't really matter how tweaked out your config is.

There is just so much money to be made for the CPL world tour I figured I might as well give this game a shot. I need a new graphics card though. I can play CS fine on my ti4200, but doom owns it all day long.
