Does this mean hard drive failure...?

I'm having problems pulling files off my WHS and I get a message a couple seconds into the transfer "Problem accessing files on \\<server>".

As part of my troubleshooting I just ran CHKDSK. I am 30 minutes into the "verifying free space" stage. I am using a supermicro 5 bay HDD enclosure and for the last 30 minutes the activity light on my OS drive has been going but I don't hear any sound coming from it. This drive is an older 150 gig raptor so it is pretty loud.

I've never had an experience where CHKDSK didn't pass so can anyone out there tell me if this is an indication that the drive has in fact failed?

Nevermind, it eventually finished and ran again just fine.

Still having transfer issues though.
