The strangest thing just happened, this router has been rock solid for around 2 years. All of the sudden last night it just stopped working, but not completely. It allows me to ping google.com and also get to google by IP and also search google. It only works with google though no other site. Yes I have rebooted it and all that fun stuff. I know its the router because i put another one there and it works fine. Tonight I'm going to do a firmware upgrade and also if i need to reset the router. Has anyone ever seen anything like this before?

Also i guess i should mention that recently (past 2 months or so) after a few days of being on i cant get into the interface and had to reboot it. So maybe it was slowly dying? The whole google thing just seems so strange to me.
 
Next time you can get into the admin settings, i would ensure that the configuration hasn't been changed. There are a few exploits going around that try to change the settings on your router to a different DNS and things.

try to see if other internet connection is possible , i mean not just website but other services
maybe the DNS services on your connection/router are damaged
 
Sounds like someone got into your settings and change the "website access" to only allow www.google.com :) Reset the thing to factory defaults - no telling what else was changed.
 
flash it, and reset it back to defaults and see. otherwise it sounds like it sure could be dying. it does happen.

I highly doubt someone got in plus its not just google I got to test.com whatever that is. and it wasnt google itself just the IP.

Well I flashed the bios and it has been up and running stable for a couple days. When i first flashed it it worked for abotu 10 min and then only one PC on it was able to access the internet. I then rebooted the modem and router and it has been up for a few days. Go figure.

I'm sure it will die soon.
 
Do you use your own DNS or your ISP's? it might not be you at all.l It might be your ISP jacking around with it's DNS servers. would not be the first time here...
 
Could be... I use my ISP's, but it wouldn't explain how I could bypass the router or use a different one and it would work fine. I guess anything is possible though.
