I downloaded Directx 9.0c last night, and now one of my programs is saying I don't have the minimum DirecX installed (7 for this program) to run it.

EDIT: I should add that dxdiag does nothing. I do know dx9 is installed though--the game last night used it.

dxdiag doing nothing is the tip off, you installation is bad in some way. Download and install it again.

reinstalled it twice and no change. the only thing that i see when i run dxdiag is a command prompt that dissappears after .05 seconds.

how do i uninstall directx? i did some google searches and it seems some ways work but they all say it might break your OS...i'd like to avoid reformatting and reinstalling all my programs again.

IIRC, according to Microsoft, you can't uninstall directex9. Check the download area.

Well, what OS are you on? because you still have your system restore you can use I hope. Also, what game is it specifically saying that for? did you uninstall the game then re-install DX 9c then re-install the game and it told you that?

sorry i had a business trip.

i recently formatted again, completely, and reinstalled directx 9.0. i'm trying to play Counterstrike: Source, and am running windows XP.

I should tell you that the message says this:

"This game has a minimum requirement of DirectX 7.0 compataible hardware."

I do have the very latest video card drivers (GeForce fx 5900 ultra).
