Digital Voice Recorder recommendation

Could anyone recommend a good digital voice recorder, preferably from first-hand experience? I'd like to use it in a small classroom environment to record lectures (for the most part).

** I had a chance to use one of the Sony's midrange models and wasn't quite impressed. Used it to record an interview in a small office. Had the thing sitting next to me, sticking out of a bag. You could hardly make out what was said from the recording... (lots of noise for some reason)

** Sony, Panasonic and Olympus seem to be the most available brands around here but I could possibly get some other if necessary

Thanks.

I use an Olympus DS-40 and love it. The quality of recordings is great.

I've also used the Olympus DS-2300, But unfortunately had to return it because no matter what, There was weird popping sounds thruout the recordings, Even placed it in a closed off room, Under a pillow w/ VA turned off and still got those popping noises. I loved the look of it and the ability to use a 512meg xd was great.
