I am thinking about getting a digital camera. I do not know much about them.

What mega pix should I get 3 or 4.

I am going to take pictures of the family, outdoors on trips stuff like that. I am going to copy pictures to CD’s and send them to people or email pictures to people. I also want to post them on the internet. I will print some but nothing more then 8” X 10” prints and most will be the normal size.

What brand and memory type should I get I am looking to spend $200 or less on the camera itself maybe $250 tops.

Thanks for any help

theres not a ton of difference between 3&4 megapixel.

I have an older 2mp canon elph, i can print 8.5x11 and they come out decently well.

With 3 or 4 mp i think you should be fine. I would purchase more on the features they have (what battery, optical zoom,(digital zoom is worthless), storage type, form factor, etc).

I'm decidedly pro-canon, so theyve got a range you can pick from.

Since new cameras are coming out all the time, you might want to get something cheap to learn digital cameras with, so when you want to spend more money, youll know exactly what you are looking for.

My 2mp camera shoots 1600x1200 pictures, which are almost too large for the internet allready. Posting 800x600 shots is more friendly to people on the net. But you will want to always take at the highest resolution your camera offers for printing, and if you need to crop later.

CANON all the way.

I am sure others are probably good too, but I love my A80!!
