Dial up Problems

I have been having problems connecting to the internet for the past two weeks.

Here is the problem, I'm hoping I will be able to get it resolved with your help.

I'm using dial-up. The problem is, when I connect to the internet..... it hangs up on me. It goes through the normal process when dialing up (dials phone #, does the anoying sound, etc). But then when it connects, and tries to verify my user and password, it just hangs up.
Thats right, the modem hangs up.... and goes through the dialing process again...... but then ofcourse it does it again.

I've tried pretty much everything to fix it. I got the newest modem drivers. I've checked the phone line for quality, I even replaced the cable. I have even tried using a different ISP. thats right, I signed up for a new one and I had the SAME issue. I have no idea what the problem is. I usually can fix anything, but this one is really giving me problems!

Any ideas would be appriceated!
Thank you!

Jack

have you tried getting a brand new modem? I've had the same problems as you were having and that fixed the problem.

I've been thinking about it..... but I'm keeping that as the last life boat. heh

Was yours disconnecting as soon as you connected also?

Jack

yes it was, but it only happened after the first time i sign on, so it took me 2 tries to sign on seccessfully

I only half-read things, but did you try reinstalling your com stuff: dialup networking etc
