While the og is one of my favorite games of all time, this looks like a cash grab.

I'm much more excited for this, hoping it comes out soon.

Quite disappointing, a remake is what this title needed, not a remaster. There are already PC mods which "remaster" the game similarly to the way shown in the trailer. The base engine tech is just too old that the remastered assets and AI upscaled textures look out of place.

There's a few studios which excel at remakes, until one of those gets hired to do a proper remake anything else is just weaksauce.

I think Remasters are fine for games that are probably less than a decade old but when they get to 20, 25, 30 years old a remaster isn't going to make the game look even half way decent. It always comes across as a low effort turd polish more than anything.

I never played this one but finished Human Revolution. Meaning to finish Mankind divided.

Agreed 100%
Would much rather a new game in the series even if it were just an AA level game

This is so low effort.

I was really hoping for a full on remake, though not changed for "modern audiences". A faithful remake. Really wanted to play the original game. This still looks a bit too old for me to bother with, and similar can likely be done with mods.

This is true. Some of the mods I've run in the past came fairly close.

Immediately disappointed in the "upgraded" graphics. I mean, textures are okay but my god...please do better.

They literally remastered the graphics to 2004 standards, well maybe not even that, HL2 still looks better. But the worst part is that they didn't even touch the combat gameplay when that was already outdated when the original came out in 2000.

Deus Ex is on my Mt. Rushmore of GOAT games. The last time my interest was stoked for it was the release of TNM - The Nothing Mod. I, too, would prefer to see a new DE game, though.

Apparently They were oblivious to the Oblivion remaster that released earlier this year. Cancel this and release a proper remaster in 28 or 29. Yes, Even if it has to use UE5.

That is what I wanted, modern graphics and maybe updating some of the dated mechanics but otherwise a faithful remake. Deus Ex got screwed the past 9 or so years with Mankind Divided not getting an ending. Would have liked to see that story arc finished and a proper remake of the original.

If this handled anything lime the system shock 2 remaster, its a pre buy for me

System shock 2 was perfect before the remaster kept it nearly the same but didnt really change anything.

Some have complained about the lighting in the Legendary version of ME2. It's been said that the original had darker, more moody lighting that enhanced the experience. I thought the criticism was overblown, but to each his own.
I agree. Also, the increased resolution of the game's textures help make up for the lighting differences.

OG Deus Ex art director reacts to controversial remaster – “oh, what the f**k. No. This did not need to happen”

Pretty much my thoughts when I saw the trailer.

Even Eidos had the common sense to distance itself far enough away from the original, because they recognized how special it was.

If you want to remaster something, remaster Invisible War. The bar here is set too high.

If you're going to remaster something, remaster it so it looks at least kind of modern. This feels like a PS2 game "remastered" for the PS3. Not everything needs to be like Resident Evil, but give me something that looks newer than 20 years old.

I noticed that the release date for this game changed from Feb 2026 to "To be announced".

I think this is extremely wise, considering the overwhelmingly negative reactions people had after the reveal...

It'll be interesting to me to see what Aspyr does here, i.e. if they just change a few models and textures to get rid of the obvious complaints or if they really rework the game into something the fans can be stoked for. Time is on their side because anyone who was going to purchase this mailed in, half-hearted effort can easily wait a while longer for a better game that truly does Deus Ex justice. But, hardcore fans aren't stupid so I think Aspyr should really rethink some design decisions based on the autistic fan feedback rather than just throwing some spit and polish on it and hoping people will be pleased. Hell, go back to the drawing board and do a major overhaul if needed like Nightdive did with the System Shock remake.

First game is a classic on par with Half Life, but I won't pay to play a version with slightly better textures and support for 16:9 monitors, so they better do this properly. They should be inspired by Black Mesa.

Aspyr is just here to collect a paycheck, Eidos and the other publishing parties are the ones who scope out the project and fund the timeline.

If the publisher wants a phoned-in cash grab, they'll only spare the cash for a phoned-in cash grab. Everyone knows time is the most expensive thing, so either the project has been cancelled or the publisher has added a few extra dollars to the project.
