Destiny 2

Very glad I decided to just ignore this game for a bit to let it settle, planning on jumping in tonight to start playing now that its not being hammered.

Legendary campaign was pretty good... WQ felt very uneven at times, with some fights being 'bang your head against the wall' and some a walk in the park. This felt like a relatively constant amount of pain, and then the last fight just a slight increase in length, and toughness.

Some clanmates said it was pretty easy on a warlock all the way through as they did phoenix dive / stasis turret / getaway artist. I did it on a titan, swapping into Pyrogale or Precious Scars on the 'harder' fights (looking at you tormentors in a confined area).

I finished the second mission on legendary and the stasis turrets with coldsnap gloves that gives you double grenades topped off with devour makes it so much easier.

Them making devour proc on any ability kills was amazing and I love it lol.

I'm thinking I should have done it backwards in terms of what classes I play, an invis hunter with Lucky Pants w/ Malf or Thorn would have been a breeze, too. But I mainly play Titan, then Warlock, then Hunter as my least, but there is no denying that Lucky Pants build just make everything pretty trivial, and it would work great with Prismatic, too.

I will say it was worth it 100% on the titan because the barricade rocket chest exotic is hilariously OP, with a buffed Bait & Switch Apex Predator doing absurd damage.

^^ That's insane.

I just have to say I think Final Shape is an absolute knockout from top to bottom.

I've had Frostbolt's stream up since launch of the raid on Friday. He just beat it about 20 minutes ago. Now I went about my day, slept and all.. but they put in non-stop 35 hours and i'll be honest, it was an incredible experience watching them finally get it.

39th place. Only 50 teams have cleared it as of writing this.

What I'm really enjoying is how consistently difficult the legendary campaign is. It's hard, but not unfairly so.

I'm half way through the 4th mission (been to busy to play) and every death felt like I earned it and need to readjust my playstyle to beat that encounter. It's been very refreshing and enjoyable, having an absolute blast with it so far.

For anyone running the campaign, remember that it is power level disabled, you do NOT need to change your gear level / infuse items. You'll get a full set of gear / weapons at the end. I just kept the highest single item for each slot. Save your materials til the end. You'll get a bunch during the campaign

Remember to put mods on your ghost. Extra gear / gear stat focusing (Resilience or Restoration are best choices, try and get some of each)

Tips for the final fight w/o spoilery stuff.
1) There is NO time limit. Go slow, and figure out mechanics. Remember the mechanics you've used up to this point in the last mission, you'll need them (as with all Destiny 2 content, they show you what you need to know in steps)
b) If you have Leviathan's Breath, use it. A good second is Sleeper Simulant.

If you're a hunter / warlock the legendary campaign is "challenging" in spots with new enemies and mechanics. If you're a titan, it can be downright difficult, especially Phase2 of the final fight. (if you get there, and you need a tip, let me I know, it's not cheese, but it can help)

As a warlock I died once on the last fight due to me progressing it so quickly I forgot a step on a key mechanic. I'm about 2 missions in on the hunter and can tell it'll be fairly easy, too.

Now that I've had a bunch of hours in Pale Heart, I REALLY hope this is what all the new zones moving forward are like. It's a lot of fun, way better than a static public events we have now.

I have barely done anything outside of the Pale Heart and I'm already in the high 1980s power rating. I'm not really even trying to grind. I've just been playing it and enjoying it. They really have done a fantastic job. Bungie put it all on the line.

The exotic mission for the class items is wild... kind of challenging, but don't be scared of the timer. All reports of mediocre people from my guild having over 10 minutes left when they finish.

1 in 64 chance of getting what you are wanting, but apparently there is a cheese to get 2 items each run if you time it right

Bungie layed off 220 people but Sony will hire them maybe they can bring EverQuest 3 to the public skip H1Z1. Destiny is lost by dated Halo mechanics.

Saying Destiny 2 is lost by dated Halo mechanics is nonsense. I can't think of many shooters out there that are even close to as smooth, fluid, or responsive as Destiny 2 is. Now design wise, narratively, etc. I have many issues with Destiny 2. But it is a great shooter at its very core. The only thing that's wrong with it as a shooter are the MMO aspects of it that naturally ruin it as a shooter. Those elements are not remotely rooted in Halo.

It's also doubtful that Sony is going to hire all those ex-Bungie developers. There isn't a lot of concrete information about Everquest 3's development. Less than a year ago it was reportedly in the concept stages of development. If the team is already built, then they won't be looking to hire that many people at all. If it isn't, then they may have that many positions available but they'll only hire those developers if the skillsets match what they are looking for precisely and if those developers live in the correct geographical area where the bulk of development takes place.

That industry as I understand it does allow some remote work to be done, but the vast majority of it isn't done remotely. Lastly, you need to understand just how little studios and publishers value personnel in the business. They have even less value than IT workers do. They aren't usually treated well and there is no loyalty there. The Bungie developers aren't going to get special treatment over the rest of the out of work developers out there. It's also a huge pool of people given the amount of studio closures and layoffs that have plagued the industry over the last couple of years. I'm not sure what H1Z1 has to do with anything. I'm not sure why you brought it up.

I'm still waiting on Destiny 3. They've been adding new content to 2 since the Nixon administration. A fresh coat of paint and loud exhaust doesn't change what's under the hood. Every time I pop back in, I shrug off the new content and bail again. Gimme something truly new.

You will be waiting for a very long time.

I was bored yesterday and reinstalled.... haven't dipped back in yet, I expect to be underwhelmed

So if I like the way Halo Infinite played, will I like this?
Not all. Halo Infinite is 343 and not Bungie. The 343 Halo games are not nearly as good as Bungie games in terms of fluidity, frame rate smoothness or tight shooting mechanics. That said, Destiny 2 is a live service game. Its a shooter combined with light MMO elements and RPG mechanics. That makes enemies bullet sponges and you have to use abilities and "builds" for your character that allow you to do enough damage to kill anything at an acceptable speed. Halo games are much simpler games. Also, Halo's single player stories are presented via actual dialog and cinematic cut scenes like most games of that type. Destiny 2 presents its story in a lackluster fashion where much of the story is told through weird menus you pull up off of weapons and armor. There are some occasional cut scenes but they often lack context if you aren't a super nerd that chases down the game lore. It does a horrendous job of presenting its story.

This isn't to say you wouldn't like Destiny 2. But Halo Infinite is a far different game than Destiny 2 and they aren't really comparable.

You will be waiting for a very long time.
Pretty much.

Bloomberg reporting:
  • Destiny 3 is not in development, and probably won't be for a long time
  • No more expansions. Smaller, free “content packs” would release alongside other episodic updates.
  • An in-development project called “Payback” was canceled earlier this year. It was supposed to be a Destiny spin-off

I got bored, and fired this up again, as someone who literally has 1000+ hours in the game... the "tonic" system is shit. Typical Bungie shit.

Ugh. I wish the art, lore, and gun play weren't so damn spot on. Even trying out new builds is still fun, but the "grind" for the new exotics is shit (having to rank up Rahool to max to be able to "buy" them... Getting them from Legendary Lost Sectors was far better, to me)

The new dungeon is completely baller tho. I might play it just for that... for a while.

Thinking I'll be playing Stalker2 pretty soon though. Not sure how many times I can do the dungeon before it gets old.

Gotta say the new dungeon is freaking fun and "just" hard enough. (Vesper's Host)

Got a quest for it unlock the class item and found a guy on the same step as me on D2LFG Discord, and we spent the next 8 hours (on and off) figuring it out. Picked up a 3rd guy halfway through that time, and re-did the steps we'd just done teaching him the stuff we learned, and then we finished the whole quest line while learning the in's-and-out's of the place.

Ended up killing the 1st encounter 4 times, the 2nd encounter 3 times, and the final boss once to finish it off. Been quite a while since I had that much fun in this game.

Anyone wants to run it, I'll definitely go again. PM me and I'll give you my Bungo name.

Exotic Quest has some interesting wrinkles. I realized I better wait for a guide.

Bungie (and really Sony) need to seriously back up some of the "valuable asset" talk because this game is needlessly withering on the vine. Some clear plans need to be put out soon and I am one of those people who thinks we probably should have been on Destiny 3 for the last few years. It's overdue. The fact that we are this far out and they never have had anything even on the drawing board is galling. I hope Marathon is good. I hope it was worth potentially sacrificing this franchise for because that's the way it's looking. Sony needs to back off the "let's carpet bomb the world with a bunch of GASS games" as well. They already have the flagship one ready to go. Use it.

LMFAO.
