Me and my brother want to get our mom a laptop for Christmas but are having a hard time deciding. It is between the Inspiron B120 or the Inspiron 6000. The price difference is $449 versus $749. The 6000 has a bigger screen, faster processor, better wireless card etc.

All my mom uses it for is AOL (haha) and general web browsing etc. Could the 120 handle that or would she be better off with the 6000? Ideas?

the 120 would be fine, however be VERY careful with the power jack. I have heard of (and personaly seen) dozens of cases where the power connector in the back goes bad requiring a new motherboard to fix. This will cost $179 in parts plus labor (or your own skill/time) to install.

Not cool.

Never heard anything bad about the higher series of dell laptops though. So my recomendation is for the better laptop. But yes, the 120 is fine :) GL

grab a notebook from the outlet. Check for the cheap XPS M 140, or 6000's. Mabey even a 600M?
