So I am very limited ono troubleshooting equipment right now since they are at my apt.

Anyways so I am suppose to fix my mom's friend computer, and I got everything down and found out that it did not post.

Removing the hard drive, well just unplugging it, even when it's no connected to the motherboard, just unplugging the power molex causes the pc to not post? I tried 2 psus and same thing.

Can a dead hard drive even when no connected to the mobo cause the pc to not even boot??

let me got this straight, the PC post without the HD connected ? (ide or sata connector unplugged). Well i had a problem with a HD recently were the damn PC wouldn't want to POST, and as soon as I unhooked the power molex from the HD, the PC posts !! weird stuff. I RMA the HD and problem fixed, wierd though. So answering your question, yes that could happen. Maybe there was some sort of short circuit, something that prevent the PSU to even turn on

haha yeah I replaced it and the pc is working now.. but that's after replacing their 350watt raidmax psu that died, thus taking out the drive also
