Im currently looking at upgrading the DDR2-533 in a relatives computer.
She has amodel a1720n HP with a 945G chipset and a E6300 CPU. The computer came with 1GB of 533 DDR2. The 945G seems to support up to DDR2 667. Currently both the FSB and DDR2 bus are running at 1:1 @ 266mhz. What im wondering is would it be more beneficial to upgrade to 2gb of DDR2 667 or in cost to performance buy another gig of 533.

Also, most importantly, on the 945G can i buy faster ram and it be throttled down to 533 speeds by the chipset while maintaining dual channel?

Im limited on my bios options as HP installed a nazi bios.

Thanks for your help.

Due to the fact of said bios I'd suggest you pick a brand of memory you are comfortable with and then check with them on what they would recommend. Several memory companies have a value type and OEM type memory specifically for systems like this and that would be your best bet for compatibility.
