I need DDR2 ram for my laptop, not sure how many pins tho

its DDR2 pc4200 but not sure how many pins.

What would be a good company to go with for afordable / good ram? Heard OCZ and coarsair were good..? What would you say for laptops? Link me up if you can also to some good laptop ram prices. People asked if im overclocking and no im not.

Also some guy gave me a link and said to buy either of these two..

They both say PC2 4200 is that fine for my laptop? Also im not sure how my laptop is but can I leave the other 256mb ram in there? or should I not mix and match and just leave the 1gig stick in there?
 
Honestly, your best bet is to go to Crucial - you can get the exact ram your lappy needs / wants and it will work, period (yes, I'm a Crucial fan and buy a crap load of it for our Dell's at work).

Does PC2 4200 and PC 4200 mean the same thing? Can my laptop support both?
 
Can I still leave the stock 256mb stick of ram that came with the laptop in there? Or do I have to remove it and just leave the 1 gig stick in there? Also how are my ram slots..? Do I have to have ram in some or something..? Cause one of my friends told me to make sure about my ram slots or something

"most" laptops have two ram sockets - odds are only one is being used by your 256mb stick (I don't recall seeing any DDR2 smaller than 256), leaving you one open for whatever your budget allows for in addition to the 256mb you already have.

Laptop RAM sockets are SODIMM, smaller than what you'd see in a desktop only in that the layout is different. There is normally a cover on the bottom that you take off to expose the sockets.

And you need at least one stick of RAM for the system to work at all, and tell your friends to realax, you've come to the right place.
