256MB Saphire Radeon 9800 Pro
4.7 Cats (Updating tonight)

Timedemo 1 on high detail 1024x768

41.7 FPS
With the new Cats I got 42.7. The optimizations must have been mostly for the sad x800 line.

rig in sig.

contantly playable, my framerates would tell you i'm at a constant 30 and constant 60, then again i have vsync turned on.

1024x768 with high details.

RIg Specs in sig.

1152/864 - Ultra Detail - 47.6
1152/864 - High Detail - 49.8

Mostly just run it in high detail and runs just fine here.

System Specs in Sig

Using Cat 3.9s

Playing 1024x768, High Detail, 2xAA, and All effects enabled.

I get 30fps average, 60 when in small rooms or looking at a wall, drops to 20-25 when fighting multiple enemies and sometimes down to 15 if theres a ton going on.

Has anybody tried playing this on a Radeon 8500?

Hey, it's worth a try.

I got my 6800GT up and running, here are my results:

1280x1024 high detail 2xAF (image_roundown set to 0)

54.9fps

I noticed something strange, if you run it more than once it runs faster the next time. I was getting 60fps average at the same settings until I reset my computer and one time before that I was getting 78fps after I played SP for awhile.

John Carmack was right when he said the timedemo wasn't too good, it seems results are based off of how much of the game is already loaded into memory.

Running Doom 3 @ 1024x768 on High Quality I was always getting 63FPS for some reason  Only time it dropped below was at the final boss when Id hit 23fps for a split second. I could run Ultra Quality but after about 45min it would crash cause my card ran outta memory.

Runs roughly at 35 fps.

I was so worried about playing this game on my rig. It's fine, the occasional low frame rate at the very beginning of a level but once it's cached in RAM it's not bad at all. The only really bad framerate drop so far was against the big spider monster at the end of the Alpha Four level but that's what god mode is for.

1280x1024 High Quality 4XAA Vsync enabled all effects on.

MSI KT4V all tweaks except Ultra speed on CPU
AthlonXP2100 stock (game crashes when I OC)
9800 Pro 128 stock (latest Catalyst drivers)
1256MB cheap RAM

I am so glad that I went with the 6800 Ultra. I almost bought a X800XT PE. What a waste that would have been!

P4 2400C @ 2700 (my 3200C is out on loan right now... CRAP)
512 MB Corsair XMS3700 @ DDR450 2.5-3-3-6
9800 @ XT (412/730)
Catalyst 4.9 Beta's

1280x1024.... Medium Quality.... No AA/AF, VSync enabled, All Shadows & Specular enabled

Smooth as silk until I start to get attacked by more than 1 monster... then she crawls down to 15-20 FPS. I think it's CPU limited badly. :(

I went back and ran some timedemos since I am playing the game on specs that I shouldn't really be able to use.

17FPS at 1280
22 FPS at 1024

But in the game itself I get a constant 30FPS when hallways are empty and I'm moving, I drop into the 20's when 1 - 4 monsters are on screen, but it is playable as the monsters seem to attack in sequence, as long as I can pop one off before the next one gets too close the game remains playable. I think the small cramped level design and darkness forgives a lot of the loss of frame rate.

I was pleasantly surprised and confused at the same time,

1024X768 @medium = 24fps
1024X768 @high = 42fps  :D

I'm not looking a gift horse in the mouth but WTF?!?

Msi Nvidia FX5950u
1024X768 on Hight quality

D3 runs flawlessly

however if i run ultra quality it gets pretty choppy.
havent realy tested any other setting.

im happy with the performance no my rig.

P4 2.4B
512 Corsair XMS 2700LLPT
MSI GeforceFX 5700 Ultra

I have my settings set to 1024x768 High Detail. No AA/AF and v-sync off. Using 67.11 drivers with DX9b installed.

Standing still looks awesome, but when im moving around (in the beggining area) every 3-5 seconds I get slight pauses and choppyness. During cutscenese it freezes for like 1-2 sec.
Set settings to medium detail and get same. Same goes for 800x600 at High and Medium. I haven't tried to see me fps count yet since i'm at work and just learned the command to view fps.
I've heard of people running 512mb 2700 and running smoothly. What would be a recommended upgrade on a budget? I have $200 to spend after selling my GF 4 Ti200 128mb and GF FX 5700 ultra.

Would it be better for me to upgrade the ram to 1gb or to upgrade to a 5900XT (I want to stay nvidia). I want to upgrade my machine but not until after HL2 comes out. Which would help more to clean up the slight pauses and for it to run smooth? Thanks.
