I just upgraded to Windows 7 this morning. I was opening all my programs to make sure that I was not having any issues with anything after the upgrade and when I got to CS:S is when I discovered my problem. I open up CS:S and it is only showing in the middle of my screen with black bars are both side as if my monitor was only a few inches wide. So I figured maybe it was something as simple as a driver so I upgraded my vid drivers restarted same thing. Out a act of desperation I hit AUTO Adjust on my monitor hoping something would happen. And of Course nothing did. I looked for some answers around the net didn't really find a whole lot. Searched around in the forums here to see if I could find anything. So has anyone had this problem? If re-post sorry just please point me in the right direction of where the post is. Any help would be appreciated.

My card is a GTS 250.

Might be a stupid question, but..
Did you change the resolution of CSS to your monitors native? If not, that will fix it.
If you dont want to do that, in the nVidia control panel under the adjust desktop size and position section is the cards display scaling options - Either select use monitor scaling or none. Because on a larger display, 800x600 really is only a few inches :p

Thanks for info. I had changed the resolution in game but didn't changed the aspect ratio. So ya guess me just being stupid. thanks :)

You are using a 1:1 scaling ratio in your control panel. You have CSS set to a resolution lower than your monitors native, hence the black bars.
