!?#*!&% CS:Source BOTs!

LOL "Cheating to beat the cheaters".

Tried that once...wasn't much fun either. It was more like 'who has the best cheats' and 'who can get away with cheating without being caught'. So I gave up CS for a couple of years since VAC and other so called "anti-cheats" weren't working and my whole two months of trying to outcheat the cheaters didn't fair so well.

Fast foward to a couple of months ago where I try out CS:S and CS:CZ. Both still riddled with cheaters. Problem there is that both use the same code for their bots. And at this point I still don't know which is worse. The cheaters or the hackbots? :(

you have to understand that most people are amused by you calling them a cheater. chances are if someone is really fucking good and you call them a cheater they'll go "yea i hack i use xogc". they're making a FOOL of you. also i didnt only use it for anti cheats. in order to be a CAL-I season 6 superstar me and my team would regularly turn on wall hacks in order to shoot at walls and see which ones actually penetrate.

*edit: SuX0rz maybe one day you'll learn that some people dont play counterstrike for public servers.....and when they do they are the admins. raven shield is fine if thats what you like, but CS is THE first person shooter. Thats why when you talk to people that play counterstrike they shrug you off like you're useless. ravenshield is a fun game....but this is just the way things are

Guess what, I don't play CS on public servers, I play with my friends here on our lan. And I'd rather they do shrug me off, but if you call "shrugging," "YOU F$%^ing idiot you don't know what the F$%^ you are talking about CS the best game ever." Then our idea of others hearing but not excepting anothers opinion is very different.

if you dont play on public servers then why are you complaining about cheaters?

btw you said that CS and raven shield arent the same FPS genre....thats such bullshit and i'll tell you why. thats like me telling you that starcraft and warcraft 3 are nothing alike because they're the not the same "RTS GENRE"

lets analyze the what First Person Shooter means. is counterstrike in first person? yes. is raven shield in first person? yes. do you shoot a gun in both games? yes.

there you have it, they're both FPS regardless of the gameplay.

By that logic, Blockland is in the same genre...

However I agree that they are no in the same sub-genre. For instance, "Stealth" is a sub-genre of FPS focused on stealth and sneaking, "Action" could be used to described games like Quake or UT, and "Pounding Your Nuts With a Hammer" is a sub-genre of games like Daikatana and Messiah.

anyone's who fed up and quit has played on public servers but got sick and tired of the young cheating punks like those mentioned here! hopefully, one day when internet anonymity is no longer, this bs will be over

till then, lan is the only way! its even more pathetic that a cheater doesn't understand why. how bloody naive!

its sad that you think so many people cheat. if you played in any good lan tourney you would realize that people really are that good.

oh really.....what good lans have you attended....please im DYINNNGGG to know....hahahaha

as far as your "young one" comment is concerned....only a 14 year old would be ignorant enough to think that anyone that kills him cheats.

Its amazing what happens when you fail to read. I was refering to the comment about Quake 3 and how athough it may be a FPS, its not really in the same field as Raven Shield. I wasn't refeing to CS and Raven Shield. Furthermore, I was never complaining about cheating, I was offering a solution to the thread starter who was. So, before you continue to try and prove your 16 year old maturity why don't you go back and read the posts.

I think this shows my argument better from my previous post Angry CS Players

I do think we're all missing the point here.
Cheating, at all, is a bad thing because it creates suspicion. My comment about quake has another side. I play quake only on servers with people I know. I know all the admins, and we've all been playing for years. While we can't prevent all cheaters, we do know for sure who is cheating and who isn't.
That's the biggest problem with CS and cheating. With so many people playing it (and with good reason, it kicks ass), and with so many cheats out there, it's impossible to know whether that person who killed you is actually good, and you should attempt to learn from their skills and try to better yourself, or whether or not they are cheating. 0ctinium does make a point about the use of cheats as a possible good idea, but I think the same result could have been accomplished without them. The existence of cheats ruins the game, regardless of whether or not someone is actually cheating in a server. You just never know who is legit. I've personally had games where I was 27-2, and I've had my 3-17 games as well. I would think I hack totally sometimes, others not so much.
The solution? MMORPG-style gaming. While this hasn't caught on, and I'm not suggesting replacing CS with EQ, Planteside did a very good job of preventing cheats. I've not known someone to cheat in EQ, WoW, or many others. Also, RTCW was integrated with Punkbuster from the start, and while PB is far from perfect, having the code that tightly integrated has apparently all but prevented cheats.
Want proof? I can send people so many demos of people (Including me) playing Q3 threewave and you'd SWEAR we were hacking. I've never touched one in my life. The worst part is not knowing whether people are or not.

On that note I used to OWN on the original Tribes and got called a cheater CONSTANTLY. It was annoying at the least. So I do know what it's like to be that good and to be constatly scrutinized as a cheater.

Even back in the day I was getting good enough at CS to occasionally be scrutinized as a cheater but it wasn't all that much as I was never that good. It's just annoying that all these idiots are out there ruining the game experience as a whole for many of us. :(

one could sit here and type out why cheating adds no value but why bother. its like talking to a brick wall. cheaters will always cheat. good points guys but cheating to beat cheaters is the biggest crock I've ever heard. the game doesn't help against this nor do the players

your right though. game with who ya know.

dont cheat to beat the cheaters, just beat them period or leave the server if you cant.

I headshotted a speedhacker with the scout the other day and he left.

Now THAT was satisfying ;)

But to be honest, if you like youre server, this strategy WILL make hackers leave. It kills your record, but you can always disconnect and reconnect.

Get you're whole team to be afk. After 5 or so rounds, the hacker will leave. You can still team chat and stuff so its not totally boring. Plus, occasionally, when they wont leave, they will come up to you and take out a knife and like jump on your head and fuck around for like 10min. NExt time, buy a shotty and act afk. When he comes up to you and trues to jump on your head, blow his head off. It will simply make your day.

Another strategy against speedhackers is stand in spawn and smoke the hell out of it.his FPS will go to 1 and he will get pissed. Just keep buying smokes and throwing them.

I like the shotty one better though :p

In Source, the m3 is alot stronger and far more accurate over distance than it's 1.6 brother.

Couldn't be more true as I've experienced myself...what I did was satisfying for a very short while before I started getting targeted for server kicks and bans as well. Essencially I was in the same group as they were and for the same reasons. :(

People who use cheats / hacks / aimbots = "Can I pet the rabbits George?"

nuff said.

Ive just recently experienced what the cheaters have done to the game first hand. About a week ago i was slay/kicked/banned from my favorite pub because i was being accused of hacking. Like Stealth5325 said ive had my days where i was totally owning and my days that i just wasnt playing well at all, and i was wrongfully accused of hacking just because i was doing good. The sad thing is that i NEVER see hackers in source. I would see them occasionally when playing 1.6, but have yet to run into one in source.

I run into them at a rate of about 1 every other day; and I only play an hour a day if that.

tell me if u think im full of shit but I think that once you get one kill, your next one is just that much easier, like first guy u kill have 100/100 then the next guy u kill u only have to do 90 dmg to kill him and it get easier for about the first 4-5 guys you kill in a row w/o dying. And play on the [H] servers that are very well officiated. Acyl Acid here

What I don't get is why it seems so easy for Epic to program good bots (Unreal Tournament 2004), but Valve seems to have so much trouble doing so? Hell, the bots in UT are often indistinguishable from normal players!
actually, while playing FragOps (which uses epic's bot code, AFAIK) the bots exhibit the same behavior you're talking about (i haven't played CS:S with bots yet, so i can't tell you for sure) they track the head of the guy in front of them. then, they'll sometimes track an enemy, then just walk the other way all of a sudden. you can sit next to a door, wait for one to come through, then shoot it... and it won't turn to face you.

of course, the "track through walls" thing helps ME out... when they start shooting a wall/hillside, i know that there's a guy on the other side:p

i'd imagine that most bots work that way... easier to program. i think (haven't REALLY watched/payed attention, but just observing here) most games use that for bots.

so CS:S isn't any different, IMO. at least they give you bots, and you don't have to go find a bot program (like back in 1.5) to play alone.
