I recently setup my rig (my first build) and everything seemed OK at first. Booted Windows disk no problem and started install. A problem occured when I was in the Windows Setup GUI. It asked for the Windows disc (Windows XP Home Edition with SP2 OEM Verison) to be inserted despite it being in my Benq DW1640 drive already. I had to reboot and eventually I ended up in a really corrupted Windows. I formatted and repeated this process a few times. Finally, I got Windows installed correctly (or so I thought). I had installed the latest chipset drivers from Nvidia, DirectX 9.0c, and all of the necessary Windows Updates. Next, I tried to install the ATI drivers for my X800 XL. This failed (it came up with a error message that said "Severe: **don't remember**") and I decided another reformat would be best (since this install seemed wonky too, and I couldn't manage to reinstall the drivers).
I e-mailed a tech support guy from where I bought the PC and he said I should run memtest. I ran memtest for about 8 hours and came up with 1 error (I used a bootable floppy version of it).
Now when I boot up Windows it starts to load Windows XP, says it's resuming setup, then reboots with a quick error message that says "Insufficient system resources...***can't read the rest, happens to fast***". Any ideas on what is going on? I can't resume setup or even format my harddrive so I'm kind of stuck. What should I do? If you need more information, feel free to ask.
Thank you.
