last year i put together a new cpu build and at the time i only had 2gb of ram...

this week i purchased a set of gskill 2x2gb ddr2 pc6400 and when ever i try to run 2 sticks the computer will freeze and lockup - i have tried different combinations of ram slots

my motherboard is gigabyte ep43 ds3l running on windows 7 64bit

i also tried updating the bios but still the problem remains.

any ideas?

First, give us the full specs list for your system and how old all of the parts are.

Second, have you tried using just one stick of RAM?

system is about 1.5 years old ..
works great with only 1 stick of ram

processor: intel q660
motherboard: gigabyte ep43 ds3l
video card: nvidia 9800gtx
ram: gskill ddr2 800 , pc2 6400
harddrive: western digital blue 640gb

tried clearing cmos maybe some old oc settings are buggin it out?

i have not overclocked anything - however one of the ram settings was set to "turbo" presets -- i backed it down to standard and that did not appear to do anything
