COD5 Beta???

Is there a beta for PC? Most I've heard is there is one for the 360.

Wow you are a little over the top dont ya think?????
Watch some videos and see what the game looks like. The graphics look great from what I have seen plus you have tanks.I mean come on dude how can this game suck.

I loved cod2,that was one of the best games and it was the one that got me hooked on call of duty.
Cod 3 was rushed so of course it wasn;t as good as 2 or 4.
5 uses the same engine as cod4.

I dont even know why I am going on here since I am paying for the game in full this next saturday when I cash my check and I will happily hand over the cash for it

I am actually one who is excited about this game. Love the fact of going back to bolts. Instead of the spray and pray fuckin noobs.

CoD2: IW

CoD3: Not IW

CoD4:IW

CoD5: Not IW

CoD3 wasn't rushed at all, it was just shit. Whether it was using the same engine or not is irrelevant. CoD used the UT3 engine and shat all over UT.

can't wait for this game. latest info from callofduty.com regarding the PC beta:

Hi everyone,

We're rapidly approaching the PC BETA, and as such I wanted to lay out a few key features to the PC version of CoD:WW, and what ramifications it will have on the PC BETA.

First, the entire key authentication / master server paradigm is changing for the first time in a Call of Duty PC title. In CoD:WW, you will be authenticating in-game against a more global master server. This server will keep track of and maintain unique Profile names (like a screenname) which will be tied to your CD Key. So while username / passwords will not be required to play our game, you will have globally unique profile names.

Why are we doing this? Because also for the first time ever in a Call of Duty PC title, we're bringing Friends and Invites (which are typically console staples) to the PC. So we have built-in Friends functionality. You can add friends, filter your servers by Friends (see which servers your friends are playing in), join their servers, etc. You can also invite any online friends to come join you in your current game. We didn't want the new Squad mechanics we've developed to get watered down on the PC, which is ultimately why we decided to bring you Friends & Invites, and thus globally unique profile names.

Now we understand that clan tags can change frequently, and it would be obnoxious and not very user friendly to keep changing your profile name. So we've added in clan tag prefixes, which will show up in-game. This should allow you to take full advantage of our Friends & Invites features, and still be able to make yourself more uniquely identifiable in-game.

So what does this have to do with the BETA?

You will be required to enter a CD Key for the BETA, much like you will when you get the full game this November. These PC keys will be available to all registered users of CallOfDuty.com, including any new users who sign up after the PC BETA releases. These keys aren't intended to limit the BETA to a certain number of players; they are here to allow you to create these unique profile names for our Friends and Invites features.

How will BETA servers work?

The PC BETA will pretty much be a limited MP distribution of our game. So you will be able to host your own servers, and GSP's will be able to sell BETA servers and put up as many dedicated servers as they'd like. All of this will function as if it were a regular Multiplayer game. It's important to note, that for the BETA, the dedicated server will be Windows only.

Will our XP / accounts / friends transfer over from the BETA?

No, all accounts will be deleted after the BETA, just like on the Xbox 360.

More specifics on when the BETA will be released, how it will be released, and where you'll be receiving your keys will be made available in my next update. Rest assured, we want to get you this BETA just as badly as you want to play it, so your patience is appreciated.

Regards,
-JD

I cant remember where I seen it but it was posted that cod3 got rushed on the consoles.
Cod4 is a good game and so was cod2.If cod5 is gonna use the same engine as 4 the graphics should be great.
I like the older style cod games.Cod4 was a great game but it seemed as if it was set up for noobs.
The noob tube, was a joke in cod4.The p90 in cod4 was a joke also, spray and pray sucka

I am actually one who is excited about this game. Love the fact of going back to bolts. Instead of the spray and pray fuckin noobs.

i completely agree with you, i'm excited to get back to bolt-action rifles.

i think it used the Q3 engine.

edit: the all-knowledgeable wikipedia confirmed this.

I think he was actually referring to CoD4, which used an improved version of the CoD2 engine, which itself is a mostly original engine which uses bits and pieces of the Q3 engine.

the graphics don't look any better then COD4 in my opinion. I'm just sick of COD games, they all run on the same engine, all the guns are nearly the same, you can headshot with a SMG like a mile away in every COD game. I'd be excited if this game was running on a new engine but its just another re skinned game to make money. Its like windows 7 coming out next year when vista is still somewhat fairly new, both OS's look almost identical and thats the way i feel about COD5.

now i'll get flamed

That its gonna suck.. Just like every non IW COD game...

United Offensive was a great addition to CoD1 and it was developed afaik by Gray Matter who is now the Treyarch team who does their CoD games. CoD5, is running on the CoD4 engine so they could of probably spent more time with the actual game than creating an engine like CoD3.

It might be good.

cod5 will be good.
About the thompson kills, the thompson has such a high rate of fire and the round it fires is big.
A 45acp bullet is big then add in the fire rate of it beng a auto means it is time to spray.
Look at the p90 it sprayed very fast

IRC, Treyarch had 8 months to complete CoD 3. This time around I think they had 2 years.

2 years of development + using an engine that's already proven = I think this game will be quite good. Moreover, I think they want to prove that CoD 3 was just a victim of development time and that they can compete with IW.

And I think the videos are from 360, which means it's TeH AuToAimz. Someone correct me if I'm wrong.

has anyone heard how they will track stats this time around (server side or client side)?

All of that is complete shit. I sometimes change my username up to a dozen times daily, depending on my mood and whim. I don't want some snotty arsehole developer dictating whether or not I'm allowed to do so. It was bad enough that CoD4 only gave you a limit of five or six bastard characters for your username.

You clearly have no idea what you're talking about.

I meant to write 'UT', not 'UT3'. I made a mistake in my typing. All the same, that was wrong, as I meant 'Q3'. I have a problem distinguishing Quake/UT games, as they're both generic twitch-shooters which've never commanded my attention. Do forgive, dear chum.

If you really change your username a dozen times a day, you might have a disorder. (no offense)

i agree, i would prefer being able to change my username at my discretion (without starting a new profile). i change COD4 username pretty often. this is a pretty low level offense though considering all the things you can screw up when developing a game, everything else they said seems good to me.

Why? Do explain. If I join a server on CS with one name, and switch halfway through, exactly upon whom does that have any sort of detrimental effect? I do it because I feel like it, and we all keep playing. Nobody complains.

That has to be one of the most asinine and inane sentences I've ever read.
