That way even 9800X3D is within design limitations. 95 C is max temp it can go to and it will throttle itself to stay at 95 C or less.

yes, and tweaking the fuck out of their system. dont try to chase it, its only a few fps in any game...overclocking?
Oh boy, this is a ginormous card. Cooling and performance are excellent with gaming bios setting.

got a link or was it reddit rumors?Read somewhere that the 5090 Suprim isn't using a premium PCB and parts tho.
I have to find it but it's from someone that opened up the Suprim.got a link or was it reddit rumors?
wasnt kitguru, just watch that one. pcb looks like a normal pcb to me. only thing they complained about was that it had normal paste instead of LM.I have to find it but it's from someone that opened up the Suprim.
Congrats on getting one. The performance seems to be where it needs to be, excellent for a halo product.I only played an hour or so of Cyberpunk on 3090. Last night I started playing it for the first time for real. On 5090 with DLAA Transformer Model and Frame Gen, the game looks and feels like something from the future. The 5090 just absolutely blows the doors off of Cyberpunk. The new hardware, which is clearly well supported by the game, works almost perfectly. It easily saturates my 120Hz OLED at 2x frame gen. Ridiculous performance and image quality! Benchmarks aside, the subjective experience is simply stunning. I simply did not expect Cyberpunk to run this good with full path tracing. I’m simply stunned by the game itself but also the way 5090 makes it seem easy run.
Thanks for the tip! I'll have to try this out next time I want to buy a new video card.I actually signed up for HotStock’s autobuy feature and logged into Best Buy through the Hot Stock App. The subscription is $13 and gets you access to the faster notification servers. Set Best Buy app to default to the local store where you normally shop. On launch day, I got HotStock push notifications that it was in stock during the initial morning drops. Was able to get in line but sold out. Then I got another notification for the afternoon drop, clicked the notification, it moves me to Best Buy’s 5090 page, add to cart, and got through. I got lucky, but the app helped a lot.
I figured New Egg, Amazon and NVIDIA’s own site would be unreliable, so I targeted Best Buy.
I also have a Best Buy plus membership which I did for a year to maximize my chances in case Best Buy decides to give subscribers the edge on drops. I have a feeling that is not the case but I did want to disclose it.
My order was 1/30/25 and arrived at store for pickup on 2/3/25.
I also tried Distill.io, which scans the website on your PC for changes. That also can work, but you need to be in front of your PC. Ultimately, it was when I got up away from my PC to make lunch that the afternoon drops happened and i got the iphone notification from HotStock. I would not have gotten a card without it. It doesn’t quite “autobuy” it for you, but it can get you to add to cart button after a drop in one click.
It is a great card and worth the hassle if you are on 3000 series. The new GPU cooler is very effective and looks killer. 4090 owners probably are ok to hang in there, but the upgrade is tremendous from 3090.
I would not be surprised if there was another drop next week. If not, it could be a while.
Lmao I love thisGo external on the radiator. Backside of the case like I did. Problem solved.

that how we used to have to do it, till cases started making space for them.Lmao I love thisthis is the definition of a "rig"

Pretty informative video.. the Asus rog astral 5090 will be the one I am after...
TL;DR: Nvidia should add extra shunts to monitor the current balance of the connector(like ASUS is doing on their cards).

not anytime soon... gonna wait till things get back to msrp.. that'll be a while.. if you watch the video you will know why.You want to buy the most overpriced 5090 on offer?
They are pushing even more power through that cable, so this is no surprise. I know the failure rates were very low last gen, but I'd be curious how many show up with the 50 series cards.
Heh, thanks. I went [H]ard quite some time ago when it came to my case and watercooling solution. Wanted something where the case HW internals remained easy to access in order to make upgrading easier. Also went push/pull config on both rads to maximize their cooling performance… hard to do if mounted inside a case. The top radiator also makes use of fan shrouds on the top and bottom - prevents airflow dead-space, where a fan’s center motor hub against the rad would otherwise block substantial airflow.Lmao I love thisthis is the definition of a "rig"

Sweet bro love it. I noticed those shrouds but didn't ask so I'll ask now, did you customize the shrouds or bought them? How'd you get the air tight seal on them?Heh, thanks. I’ve upgraded three generations of MB/CPU/GPU internals with this setup over the past decade and have never had to worry about not having enough cooling.
The 14 rad fans all Nidec Gentle Typhoon 1850's that are on fan controllers to slow them down to around 1250rpm, so they are nice and quiet.
Earlier pic is from a good 3 years ago - that top rad shroud used to be a box I cobbled together from cut up Home Depot rulers and black gorilla tape.Sweet bro love it. Wasn't this linked above?

Yeah, heres a new one. The last half where he shows his water cooled 5090 with the thermal cam is nuts, 2 wires on the 2x6 are burning hot and the connector reaches 140C.

Seems like it's becoming a broken record.damn son...
Nvidia seems to be prioritizing thermal design and volumetric efficiency. Hence, their coolers tend to be pretty small relative to the AIBs and cool pretty decently. Why don't they just go back to larger connectors, it's not like they make enough 5090's for the extra metal and plastic to cost that much.
Yeah he pretty much wrapped it up. It's a sad state of affairs that an iffy card and cable has that much of a negative affect on the whole video card market right now.
Yeah, it's like Nvidia said "we were having a few issues with the 4090 let's make a card with a heavier power draw while basically using the same cable!" Don't really get the reasoning behind it honestly. As it is the 5090 is stupid expensive, it can draw crazy watts and the cables may or may not be up for it safely, plus the card is a minimal "upgrade" over the 4090, what 28% better performance? That's a freaking joke.
