We have this switch in out server room with two fiber modules (wsx5530) and three ethernet modules (wsx5329).
Because this switch is out of date I'm finding it hard to get info on Cisco's website about it.
I'd like to add some gigabit over copper ethernet modules to it - primarly because we're running short on ports and also because I'd like to reduce the backup time window.

Does anyone know the number of the part I'm looking for and where I might be able to buy one - other then ebay?
 
These are EOS and almost EOL - no hardware/software support through Cisco.

Cisco doesn't offer a copper gig blade.

They only offered fiber blades for gig.

The part number for a 9 port GBIC blade is WS-X5410

The part number for the 1000BASE-SX MM GBICs are WS-G5484

Try talking your boss into replacing them with a 4006 or higher. :D The backplane on a 5500 is only 3.2Gbps. The backplane on a 4006 is 64Gbps with a SUPII or SUPIII engine and with a 4006 you can get a 24 or 48 port 10/100/1000 copper blades.
 
Well what would be the price tag on a 4006 with replacements for the wsx5530?
And what do the 24 or 48 port 10/100/1000 copper blades cost?
I might as well give it a whirl? After all I might have just scored a few additional TB of storage for cheap already today.
 
Call your Cisco reseller.

We just picked up 4x 4006s for $5,500 each with SUPIIIs.
 
Depending on your costs there is a company called network liquidators that has warrenty'd refurb cisco equipment that you can get with smartnet. My BlackDiamond 6800 recently died and was not under contract. We went to purchase a new 6500 series with the same specs and it was going to cost us $95,000. NL was able to get us the same thing on smartnet for $45,000. You could easily get something cheap to meet your needs.
