It's great that they're releasing new fixes, but...the X1950 Pro is only supported with those hacked 6.9s. Oh well. Maybe 6.12. :)

nice I just hope the aforementioned bug with powerdvd doesn't happen.

Wow software crossfire for X1900 and X1950... I wonder if there is a performance penalty versus the dongle? And I wonder if this takes away the need for a Crossfire edition master card?

That question crossed my mind, too.

I'm curious as well if there is a performance hit doing software vs hardware CrossFire. There is a hit on Nvidia software SLI, so I would figure there is one here too, but I would love to know how much. If it's minor (<5% maybe?) that would be pretty tasty!

Its kind of frustrating that they release a product and don't actually include it in any driver release.

Ummm are you sure? They state that X1950Pro Crossfire software is not available, but it doesn't say that this release doesn't support the X1950Pro.

Note it specifically says about two pages down

but does not say anything about not supporting the X1950Pro.

Maybe so, but when you go to the driver page for the 1950 series, and click on the link under Optional Downloads, it comes up with a piece saying the 1950 PRO users need to follow this other link.

I would of just thought that if the 1950 PRO was supported in 6.11 that they would mention it in the release notes, especially since they have had a page specifically for the 1950 PRO.

Dayvon: Yes, you were right. I just tested it out and the 6.11s at least detect the Pro, which is an improvement. I don't know if they are backwards compatible with the 6.10s for FAH, but that's a completely different issue.

It's just that last time, in the 6.10 release notes, they specifically noted that they added support for 3 cards, including the X1950XTX, so I assumed they would do the same for the 6.11 release notes. Thanks for nudging me to try them. :)

Edit: No, they don't work with FAH. It freezes the computer completely, but other 3D apps seem to work okay. So, FAH people might have to stick with 6.10 until Stanford decides to look at things.

I'll go ahead and try installing the 6.11s tonight as well and see if I see any problems. Hopefully ATI just forgot to list the PRO as a supported card in the release notes.

Actually, the 6.11's DO support the 1950pro. Just installed them 10 minutes ago. :)

I'll install and run 3DMark06 using my crossfire setup. I'll post the results later. (Regarding "Is there a performance hit.")

I read somewhere that the X1950pro is supported in single and Crossfire but cant be used in combination with another type of X19xx card for Crossfire, only another X1950pro.

Note: The Radeon® X1650 XT is not supported in this driver release.
Well, that's unfortunate. Those who may have gotten one two weeks ago will end up waiting a total of six weeks for updated drivers.

So, 1950 Pro owners are stuck with 6.9, correct? There's some heavily conflicting information here.

I installed 6.11 last night, my card was recognized as a 1950 PRO, and BF2 played fine. If in doubt, just make a restore point so you have somewhere to go back to.

I probably should have edited my first post but was too lazy.

The 6.11s will recognize the 1950 Pro and install fine. The release notes just forgot to mention the added support for the 1950 Pro. It seems to work fine for games. It doesn't work at all with FAH, however, because the FAH only supports 6.5 and 6.10b right now the last time I checked.

Now I haven't done any conclusive tests or anything, but I believe these drivers run smoother than the 6.10's.

Ok I did some testing, I gained 4FPS in the CSS stress test. 1920x1200 details max 6xADAA 16xHQAF netted me 158FPS. Four more than my previous best of 154FPS.

It also fixed a problem I was having with the game when I played the map cs_militia with HDR on and off I got bad framerates. Now with these new drivers I don't go below 60fps with the previous settings. Also NFSC seems to run smoother too :)

I'm gonna go try out BF2142 now so I'll see how that goes. Currently playing that @ 1920x1200 2xADAA and "High" AF, all settings in game.

I have a brand new computer built yesterday, and I got a Sapphire X1950Pro. I have Cat 6.11s running with no problems. HDR+AA in Oblivion turned on too.

So far I think the new drivers suck.

This is my 3DMark06 Score with the 6.10's

This is my score with the 6.11's

Now, this is crossfired X1900s through the dongle.

That's a TWO HUNDRED POINT LOSS.

EDIT!

Discovered that my antivirus kicked in during that test, therefore killing the score. WHEW! Here's the score WITHOUT the antivirus running:

Installed 6.11 lat night. My BF2 runs faster smoother, and better graphics. Only thing is when i enable my Crossfire it reboots my system. :(

The 6.11 drivers do not support the Sapphire Radeon X1950XT 256meg either, they say my hardware isn't detected. Only the CD provided 6.10 drivers work for it so far. Maybe this card is released early or something? I haven't seen any info on ATi's site about the X1950XTs yet.

Hmm, Sapphire has a slightly different build for download on their site. Trying it now... Nope, same thing. Won't install. Says "setup cannot detect any ATi hardware on your system" or something.
