I am building a new comp and i was looking for suggestions and someone mentioned that i should drop the SLI MoBo and just get one good card rather then 2 9600 gt.
the MoBo i had in mind is Asus P5N-E Sli S775 650i C2D DDR2 GBlan 6-ch audio.

Any thoughts
 
Do you have a budget in mind? What resolution do you play at?
 
If you can find a single GPU that does what you want at a good price point, prefer that over an SLI or Crossfire solution. You might see acceptable SLI/CF benefit at that resolution, but the possibility of microstuttering and games that don't scale to multiple GPUs makes multiple GPUs less palatable.

You might want to hold off and see how the upcoming Radeon 4850 and 4870 perform. For what you're looking for, those might end up being better values.

Avoid a motherboard with an nForce chipset unless you really want to go SLI; those chipsets seem to have various issues.
