I get very noticeable tearing without enabling vsync, but I also can't stand the abrupt frame rate changes from vsync.
This why I'm giving triple buffering a try, and from what I've read, DXTweaker is currently the only way to force triple buffering in D3D games.
I'm having trouble getting DXTweaker to work, though. Whenever I try to run the .exe, I get the following error:
I have the program properly unzipped, with DirectX 9.0c properly updated. .NET Framework is installed. Anyone have any ideas as to why it won't run?
