New build with Z68 fatal1ty gen3/4 professional with 2500K and 2 sticks of 1.25v corsair sniper ram.

When I restart from windows, the computer does not post. No power is given to display or USB ports. I have to power it down and then repower it, then it will post and run fine... until I try to restart again.

If BIOS settings are COMPLETELY default the problem goes away. If I change the settings at all, such as raising the clock on the CPU from 3.3 to 3.4, it starts happening again. I've tried both sticks of RAM in all four slots and still having the problem.

What the fuck is going on?
 
Should I flash BIOS? It only says it's a background update, so I don't know if it contains any fixes.
 
Always ensure BIOS is updated; there may be a fix for your issue not listed in the release notes.

Asus AI Suite is a bit twitchy so I just use it for monitoring while doing all my settings in BIOS.

I had a similar issue with my board and noticed that my BCLK was WAY too high through no fault of my own. Why? No idea. I set it back to 100.0 MHz and all was well. I assume you're only increasing your multiplier, right? Hope this help so your life is shiny with your new rig!
 
Some ideas, Windows did not shut down properly. Do a fresh windows install. Make sure power is good, use a DVM if you have one. Make sure all connections are correct and reliable. Use one memory stick at first, use the simplest configuration possible for everything. Check your compatibility charts.Try underclocking, look at what eerything goes to when you change the clocks. Maybe something is particularly sensitive which you can keep from changing.
 
Well it also hangs when I save changes from BIOS and restart, so would a windows installation also cause that problem?

I'm looking at my BIOS codes and when it boots, it cycles through all them perfectly. When it hangs, it stops at CODE 19: Southbridge Memory Pre-Initialization Started.

And it just sits there. What are the chances that both these sticks are incompatible or fried? Could it be the DIMM slots on the motherboard itself? The PSU?

I'm going to flash my BIOS and see if that fixes it, although I'm hesitant with it randomly hanging like this. Like I said, the computer works flawlessly once it boots... it just randomly decides not to boot.

The BLCK is set at 100mhz.

Memory timing?

You said everything works when it's on "Default", but fails when you O/C, I'm wondering if you need to loosen the timing. I had that problem once.

Have you ran MemTest to ensure stability?
 
Thanks a ton for the responses.

I updated the BIOS and it's started up 4x in a row running at 4ghz so seems to be fixed.
