How many people like me waited to long to pre-order and have to try to get one at midnight on launch day?

What are my chances? What store should I go to? Can I just show up at midnight and pick one up or should I get there early?

As you can see, Im really confused about what I should do here. I definately want to try to get one on launch day. Any input from you guys would be appreciated (unless its advice to "not buy the system because it sucks and MS is gay").
 
Hmmm.. i camped at bestbuy for my psp. not planning to get a 360 on launch tho.

Wal-mart, Best Buy, ETC
 
I'm planning to camp wal mart, depending on how they do it.

I still don't know how they plan/when they plan to put them out since it's a 24hour wal-mart, if they'll just start a line inside for people or simply start selling once it's midnight or what.
 
I refuse to participate in the bullshit that is preordering, so heres my story...

Call your local circuit city, target, wal mart BigK/Kmart, and even, sears. Most best buys and Wal Marts will be having midnight launches. Best Buy is obviously going to be a high profile target, so you might want to pick somewhere a litle more low key.

Your next priority is finding out if they are handing out line vouchers, when they will be distributed, and how many boxes they will have FOR SURE.

In my case my circuit city is sort of over looked by a lot of folks so I'm going there. They are opening at 9am, handing out vouchers at 8am, and I'll have till noon to pick it up. They have 12 total boxes to give out. I'm setting up in front at 4am, and getting mine when they open.

Circuit City will be doing a buy two games get a gift card deal, I've got a 10% off coupon for the system that I'm using, and they are doing an accessory discount too.

I know that the 24 hour Wal Marts in my area are handing out vouchers around 10p to people in line. In my area they are focusing mostly on core bundles, which is the main reason I decided not to bother with them. So if you are thinking wal mart you'll need to be there early.

Honestly though depending on where you live and what you have to choose from, the earlier you can stand to wait, the better. My circuit city friends say they've been getting calls from people asking how early they can stand in line. One freak wanted to start waiting starting last week.

I probably won't be first in line, but I won't be last.

These seem to be making a mint in Ebay.
I've considered camping out to buy 3-4 and sell off 2-3 to pay for one to keep.
Gotta make something if I'm waiting in line 10 hours.
Do most stores, Walmart, Target, Best Buy etc.. have a limit on quantity ?
These are going on sale at midnight on Monday night, that is to say Tues morning right ? :)

All of the stores are limiting people to one per person. That really sucks how some people are going to be camping out and will not even get a chance to buy one because some people only think about themselves making a profit on eBay.

Capitalism at it's finest.
If they're really that limited though, you're probably right I couldn't find a store willing to sell me 3. But consider it a service to people who don't want to camp out overnight in a parking lot just to get a console in the release week. Or maybe they have to work. I think paying someone to wait in a cold dark parking lot for 12 hours is worth 150 bucks. Don't hate the player blame the game and MS.

Or your complete lack of decency and morallity. I would never consider, let alone discuss on a public message board, the act of ripping someone off. Especially when that someone is considered to be one of my peers. Call it capitalism, call it whatever you want. I call it being a prick.
 
I'll bet you have a big list of people you hate op...most people are out to screw you over or rip you off. It's the American way.

About you not pre-ordering, look at it this way. Maybe you'll pick one up with better games in early '06 for less money. Otherwise, don't be surprised to find everyone trying to ass rape you with rediculous prices, or a let down at one of the stores. Good luck man. Black Friday shoppers are bad enough.
 
I sold my pre-order (first on the list at a local EB, the pre-order slip I had and three other people's will get one on launch day) for $150 dollars. So I am going to get one on the first price drop.

Um, you can call it whatever you like, but I agree that it's just a lack of decency. There are going to be a lot of disappointed campers who put in the time and effort, but came up empty. To literally rob them of a chance is just one of the most selfish acts I can think of, especially when there are numerous people who are willing to put the time and effort into this because they are enthusiasts, not someone who just wants to rip people off. With supply being so limited, if you bought one and decided to sell it rather than enjoy it yourself, but to actually cheat people who are putting in the time and effort like you to enjoy the product is amazing.

I'm against any behavior or deed that cheats honest people who put in a hard honest effort to obtain something, but was denied by some selfish being. I'm all for capitalism, but it also has to be balanced with morals.
 
So basically it comes down to

- their desire to own an x360 is more important than my desire to own one ?

This implies you favor price controls on a luxury item.

If your buying it just to resell it, its not about ownership any more. I have no problem if people resell stuff at asking price, but when they resell it to make a serious profit, then I got issues. It's like the people that started selling pictures of a PS2 on Ebay in a similar situation (I'm guessing many of you might remember that). Now it gets a bit more complicated on how I feel on the Ebay side though. If you start the bidding below asking price, or do a buy it now at retail pricing, I don't have a problem, because that means some ones desire is beyond just what the price is. As for scalping tickets, I'm not for it, but if your selling it at the asking price or below, I have no problem (I don't think that's scalping either).
 
I'm going with a couple friends who are going to help me buy some to get around the 1per person limit, for eBay. There are 4 wal marts, 3 targets, 2 meijers, 4 best buys, 4 circuit cities in the 10-15 mile area and we are going to hit most of them starting Monday in the order of their opening. I'm hoping to end up with around 10 units.
 
Called my Walmart today, its a 24/7 one. They said they will be handling it back in lay away and it will be first come first serve. Glad I don't have to wait out in the cold. They said to call back Monday to get the official count of how many they have and the final details on how its gonna work. Hopefully they will be getting more Premium than some are reporting since I live a fairly wealthy community. Don't know if I will be able to get one though, those kids might go straight to walmart once the bell rings. Ill check in around 4pm and see if the line is started if not I will go back home and come back a few hours later.

Too bad you will be met with sold out signs at every destination if you plan on arriving that late.

Actually I dont hate anyone, you might, I dont.

Did you ever wonder why other countries dont like us. Maybe because its people have the attitude that to screw people over is "The American Way".
