cache=buffer?

when taking about HDD is the cache the same as the buffer? and will you notice the difference between a 2 mb buffer and 8 mb buffer?
 
In essence, yes. Just be warned that ATA units will load their firmware into the cache and thus shrink the size usable for data by about half a meg.
