Burnt CD's on Xbox?

I have some techno songs that I made in Acid that I want to put on my xbox harddrive so I can put it into my games, but when I tried it, it wouldn't accept it. Is there any way that I can get them on my hd w/out a modchip? Also, should I put them in .wav or .mp3?

Most Xbox drives just won't read CDR's. Try burning them to a CDRW, if you have one. There's a decent chance it'll work then. You'll need to burn it in audio CD format.

The poster explicitly said without installing a modchip...all he wants to do is rip some mp3s, you hardly need a modchip for that. Anyway, the modchip doesn't allow you to read any disc, the types you can read are dependent on the drive you have. The samsung is the only drive that reads cdr, and some are even picky with those. Unless your xbox got stuck with the thompson drive (*shudder*) you should be able to read a cdrw.

If this was true, I'd be surprised. The drives are mechanically fixed to only read certain disks.

Burn the music into audio format on CD-Rws and you should be fine. My Tompson drive has been able to read any CD-RW disk I have thrown at it.

It's not so much that they're made to not read CDR's, it's just that the Thompsons have such crappy tolerances. I've seen two or three Thompsons that couldn't even read CDRW. I guess I'm lucky that I got a Samsung in mine. I've only found one brand of media that it doesn't read.

I have a samsung in my modded box also, and havent found anything it couldnt read. The thing to remember is that we're not exactly using our devices within the normal operative boundaries :) The thompson wouldnt have any trouble reading any retail disc put in it.

Oh, no doubt. It works fine for its intended use most of the time. But its tolerances aren't wide enough to allow just any kind of media.
