Burning on cds extra space

I was wondering if any has been able to find a program that will let you go back and burn on to the empty space of a CD-R or dvd-R after the disk has been marked closed or locked
 
It's not impossible, just so next to useless it wouldn't do any good. The reason this isn't done is because since the file system is already written, you'll have to store the information about where the new data is stored somewhere else. It'd probably have to go on the harddrive. If you store it somewhere on the cd, then the software would have to reread the entire disc until it found the information it put there to let you read the data back off of the disc. If you store the information on the harddrive, it's only good until you loose that file and won't work on any other computer unless maybe you put it on a flashdrive or something.

Overall, no one is crazy enough to design a program to do this, because, every step of the way they will be reminded that CDRs are cheaper than dirt so all you have to do is grab another CDR and burn a new session with the new data included. Still, like I said, it's not TECHNICALLY impossible, so, who knows, maybe some nut out there will make something to do it someday (just don't count on it.)
