Built in iSight Problem

This is what i get most of the time when i try to start photobooth...

before anyone says "close all other programs" i do a restart and then its the first thing i try to open...

it wasnt always like this, i actually noticed it for the first time 3 days ago..so does anyone have any ideas? i can take it to an apple store but the earliest i can do that is september and its a little far to just make the trip without trying some things first...

Have you gone to System Preferences->Accounts->Login Items to make sure there isn't something in there that might be loading at start up?

Did you install any software around the time the problem started? Chat program maybe?

With no applications running, is the green light near the camera on? If so, then something is definitely accessing it.

EDIT: You can optimize images for the web using Preview. Just open a image in Preview, go to File->Save As, choose JPEG as the format, and then choose an appropriate quality setting (the default is fine).

i redid the pic as a jpg

repair permissions on the whole drive? im confused...

nothing has been installed lately and the only thing that is on startup is mail, ical alarm, and little snitch

open disk utility (it is in the utilities folder in applications) and there should be an option to repair permissions, run that and see what happens

yea i knew how to do that, i was just wondering if that is what you meant...

i did it and it worked once then a few hours later same thing...
