Building RAID 1 Array without format

Hi

I have critical data in my HDD and If it is possible I want to buy another HDD and build RAID 1 array for increasing data reliability, are there any way to build RAID array without need to give backup and format new array?
I use Intel Integrated RAID controller on Intel 5000V series motherboard.
