Bioshock movie

I can see it now. People that buy the ticket to watch this, will need to activate it, every 10 minutes and as soon as they activate it 3 times, you will need to buy another one. The movie will be 2 hours and 30 minutes in length. You will not be able to re-watch it in the theaters, because your DNA will be stored for reference of those that already saw the movie. Every ticket will cost $25.

Seriously though, the story does have potential to be on the big screen, so it may become a good movie, if the script is good and directing is right. Gore is certainly a good director to get there.

As long as it's not Uwe Boll...

It's Gore Verbinski directing the Bioshock movie. Same guy who did the 3 POTC films. Hopefully he does well enough with this film, that other game developers will tell Uwe to move the fuck on.

Universal also announced that Gladiator, The Aviator and Sweeny Todd screenwriter John Logan is in talks to pen the film's script.

If that ^ happens, it would be a very good sign for the movie especially when paired with Gore Verbinski as director. It gives hope that this movie might actually be pretty good. I think the Bioshock story would fit very well in a film setting....as long as they don't screw with the game characters too much. I thought they are fine as they are in the game and if they get actors to portray those characters like they are, that would be a big plus for me.

i loved this game... great idea for a movie.. i was wondering why it took so long to happen

Why? Vidgeo Games -> Movies has always been shit.

I don't know about vidgeo games, but just because video game movies in the past have been bad doesn't mean they better not not screw this one up.

You guys are full of shit. No video games made into good movies?? I've got two words for you... "Street Fighter". One of the best movies of all time, ranks right up there with "The Godfather" in my book.

~Prays to whatever god people believe in.... Please let this be sarcasm!

Uhh... if you're referring to the one with Van Damme, then that movie sucked.

Hahaha. Wait, are you being serious?

...are you Jean Claude van Damme?

OMG funniest thing I've read on the forum in a while!

I wouldn't exactly say there have been oscar winners, however I really enjoyed a lot of the game to movie conversions. I've liked all the resident evil movies so far, I thought Doom was pretty good, Silent Hill was pretty good as well. Theres older ones like Dune as well, I'm fairly sure the game was before the film although I'm not sure if the games originated from books or something like that.

Even the less serious ones like street figher and mortal combat aren't crap, they're just targeted at kids thats all, in fact mortal combat was actually quite cool from what I remember, Lambert as Raiden was great :)

I seriously hope you meant that as sarcasim and forgot to put the roll eyes smiley.

Street Fighter was pretty ghey .. but others mentioned where alright .. and I enjoyed the Tomb Raider movies as well ..

..the first Mortal Kombat was alright , but the second one sucked

They came from the books.

I suspected as much, maybe why the film was more sucessful, who knows.

Yes, also the tomb raider films were fairly good, as was the recent Hitman.

As I said before, these aren't exactly oscar winners, and most are aimed at a slightly younger audience, but it doesn't make them crap.

I would have to disagree, in regards to Tomb Raider, especially the second one. They were crap :)

I enjoyed the first Mortal Kombat and Hitman and as I recall, that's it. Street Fighter was only good to see Kylie Minogue ^_^. Every other movie based on a game, was craptastic and considering Uwe Boll makes lots of them, that's not surprising...

Good god...as a gamer how can you not like the first Tomb Raider, Angelina Jolie, as Lara Croft, shooting bad guys, and running and bouncing a lot! It's got everything the games has + full backle ;)

As I said, I especially didn't like the second one. The first one was ok I guess. Also, I can't say I'm a fan of Angeline Jolie, so the move having her, wasn't exactly a plus for me, though no one could portrait Lara Croft better than she did, given the *coff* physical attributes *coff* :)

Gore Verbinski seems like a decent choice. Aside from Pirates, he directed "The Mexican" and "The Ring," the latter of which was quite atmospheric and rather creepy, which are two elements I'd expect from a Bioshock movie.

I think this movie has great potential, as long as they stick to the damn storyline. I was so pissed with the way they screwed up DOOM, when all they had to do was stick to the story that was in the game. The only video game -> movie I've ever seen that I really liked was Silent Hill.

Well in principle I agree, however it's not always realisticly possible to create an interesting movie around a game and keep it accurate, just in the same way it's true about book to movie conversions, they don't always work well without some modification.

Most original authors will agree on the changes first, Terry Prattchet did in the Colour of Magic and the Light fantastic recently, and I suppose the bods at ID who own the doom IP probably OK'd its use in the movie

Doom3 was a good action movie for me, the first person sequence was really well done I only wish it was longer or appeared more than once.

Sum of All Fears movie -> game was pretty good. Although I guess it needs to be pointed out that the game didn't reproduce the movie.

That was from the Tom Clancy Book/Screenplay

Of all of the Video-Game-to-Movie Adaptations, I probably enjoyed Silent Hill the most.. Final Fantasy was pretty cool too. Tomb Raider had the best production values and was quite entertaining.. +10000 for Angelina Jolie.. mmmm..

Doom was a TERRIBLE movie since they removed all of the elements of the gameplay.

Don't tell me they're going to show this in theaters in widescreen format--we'll need to make goggles out of toilet paper rolls to correct the FOV. :D

Seriously, good premise for a movie.

Well, considering ALL movies have been widescreen since 1954...
