I have buy the parts and bring it to local computer store, they build the rig for me, tested Run it and it all goes good such as memory test, 3D mark 05 etc.

No window 98/XP are installed.

When I bring my rig home and connected to CTR monitor, all fans are lighted up and working fine, there is also the beeb* sound when the comp start (which is normal according to the local computer store), but the monitor won't show anything, its all blank (or screen is completely black). So I went to my friend's house to and test my system to see if it is just my Old DELL PC monitor hate my new rig.

My friend's monitor is Samsung CTR and same results happen, screen is black. (my friend said even this is a fresh computer with no window xp installed, there will be at least some thing show up at the monitor, not completely black).

What shall I do? What is wrong with my new rig since memory test and 3Dmark05 all run good? Please help.....I am really frustrated.......I have waited for a month for this computer to arrive and spend alot on it....I don't want it breaks.....
 
sounds... odd. if they had it working, but it doesn't now.. try holding down the insert key as you turn on the computer

what is insert key? insert key = power on/off key? or reset key?
 
check to see if you have any loose cables. also remove what ever cards you have and reseat them.make sure everything is flush. ignore that other guy
 
You indicate that 3D mark 05 etc were run, but you also indicate you have no OS installed. When you hit the power switch can you push “del” and get into the bios?

If not turn off your power switch or unplug your power cable and go inside the machine and to a bios reset, should be a diagram in your owners manual. Plug the power cord back in and turn the machine on and again see if pushing “Del” will get you into the bios.

Since you probably paid to have it built you might also consider going back and asking what they did, or what you might be missing.

Anyway, to the OP, you need to be a bit more specific...are you trying to install Windows XP? If so, you need to make sure it boots to the CDROM in the BIOS before a harddrive.

OP: What kind of a video card is it? If it has it, you have the molex/PCI-E power connector connected to it right? 6800's should scream at you if its not, but I'm not sure about x800's.

Last I looked the ATI cards posted a big msg like, "hook up the 12volt line stupid" or something to that effect ;)
 
i started out just throwing out my 2 cents. i also should have payed more attention when he said, "What is wrong with my new rig since memory test and 3Dmark05 all run good?"
But saying i know nothing about respect. thats where you got me wrong brotha. even though the majority of people on this forum know considerbly more than i do, but i'll remain content that might help someone now and then. bash all you want. night guys
 
hehe, thanks for the support guys. petty, don't sweat it. i've dealt with worse, you're cool aside from telling to ignore my advice that would seriously take 3 seconds to follow :p

billr has a good point though. by nothing on the screen, i'm assuming no post.. but now i'm not certain. i think we need holy to clarify on this point ;)
some other things... what did they do between running the benches and handing the computer to you? just remove the HD?
 
Interesting. Single short beep normally comes to signify that the computer has posted.

I do know that this happened with an older laptop I had from work. There was a specific button to change from LCD/Monitor/Laptop display. This may be the reasoning behind using the insert button Eclipse?
 
actually, insert is a surprisingly unknown trick, if you boot with settings that are unstable, or will not boot, you can hold down insert to boot with bios defaults. it basically takes the place of clearing the bios, without actually clearing it :D
 
...but the single beep signals it has posted succesfully, Eclipse.

Have you got the monitor plugged into the correct port on the video card? Eg two DVI sockets or something?

The PC thinks everything is okay. Your best bet is to check the power on the monitor and the video cable. Reseating the video card is also a good bet for sorting it, but modern graphics sockets have clips that make this less necessary.
 
true, thanks for pointing that out... i kinda missed it :(

seeing as he tried two different monitors though, i don't think that's it. the rig previously worked.. hmm... my brain isn't functioning today :p
