Didn't see a thread up yet,

EA is selling BF3 through origin for $5.
 
I think it's because the majority of us don't use Origin. Ever since EA went that route on PC, I haven't purchased anything from them since.
 
that's a steal. so much fun to be had for $5. Origin is fine by the way. works just as well for me as Steam does.
 
Yeah, my experience with Origin has been pretty good. I don't leave it running all the time like I do with Steam, though. BF3 for $5 plus the free expansion linked in another thread would be a good deal. Going to be lots of noobs on over the weekend...

I caved. Also noticed Deadspace 3 on sale for $19.99 cheapest I've seen it, very tempted I loved the first two.

Every time there's a sale you see a ton of AMAZING low level players.

I don't think his point was that we aren't using Origin due to the sales, but that we aren't using Origin because it's Origin. :p

Maybe. but keep in mind PunkBuster uses a hardware GUID banning system so previously banned hardware matches cant play (At least... on PB enabled servers)

Guys seriously need to get off the EA boycott lol.
 
Just bought it myself. Five bucks, eh why not. Plus the free DLC was a nice bonus. Sad thing is, I already own this on 360 but never even opened the shrink wrap.

I just fired it up for the first time since beta -- I forgot how awesome Battlefield is.

The next battlefield i buy will maaaaaaybe be 4, i just want them to get started on bad company 3. I played the crap out of bad company 2 since beta and loved every minute of it.

No it doesn't you cannot launch now. It ask you to install a web plug in and when you do it still keeps asking you to install plug in. Thousand out there are complaining that they cannot play this EA crap because of this!
 
i'm in.. i knew i waited it woudl get cheap enough.. are the servers still populated?


are there any base game servers still going or is it pretty much expansion ville?

Still a lot of pop, as it's still the best online FPS there is imo.

Tons running vanilla, I bought Premium on the 360, hate damn near every map except the ones in B2K expansion
 
I pretty much just play gun master and I can confirm the plague of low level players with amazing aim but no idea how to use the m320 grenade launcher. They race to the end and then can't close the deal. I knife demoted one guy 4 or 5 times.

For those that don't know, the next to last weapon shoots a grenade with a timed fuse. It's easy to dodge and the timed fuse means autoaim doesnt help you so all these god like shooters become completely helpless. It's one of the few weapons that is nearly uncheatable.

Shoosh. You can spend 500-1000 hours on the vanilla maps alone, which are great, probably the best.
 
Makes me sad for putting over $100 into this game. Pre-ordered and bought Premium when it came out. And they have the nerve to not give me my B2K key that i bought twice technically....

Don't think you get exactly how a boycott works. EA is a bad company with bad practices that releases bad products and treats its customers ... not well. Buying their products supports them and their practices, so you need to be okay with that for this to be worth even considering.

That said, if you're not boycotting EA and you're one of the lucky ones for whom Origin works as advertised, then yeah, this is a hell of a deal. Battlefield is a sweet series, I would definitely bite if anyone but EA was behind it, thanks for the heads up, DF-1!

I'm having the same problem.
Oh well, it was only $5. Should have went with my instincts about Origin though.
 
^^^I installed the plugin via Chrome and had no issues. I just clicked the link and downloaded to my computer and then ran it. I wonder if there is an issue with certain browsers. I just read that on IE, you might have to go into the settings and enable the plugins manually. One is "ESNlaunchAx control" and the other is "SonarAx control" located in Tools>Manage Add-ons>(Show)All add-ons.

The only issue I have had so far, was that last night there was maintenance going on for the battlelog update in process. So I had to put Origin offline just to play singleplayer.
 
I just went to re-install BF3 because of the deal with the free expansion. It wouldn't install. Downloaded from another computer and copied it over, then it installed. Now the browser plugin won't work (on IE or FIrefox). I'm done with EA games. It's not worth 1¢ if you can't run the fuckin' thing.

P.S. BF3 sucks anyway, it's not worth $5. I was hoping the expansion might add something interesting but I guess I'll never know.

I'm using Chrome too. Oh well, just bought Skyrim on Steam and have had SC2:HOTS since it's release and still haven't played it. I think I'll play those two instead.
 
I installed the chrome plugin and it worked perfectly. in fact, I thought I was going to dislike the way they did the server browser due to all the whining on this forum (should have known better) but turns out that it's actually really cool.

Yeah, it's awesome. Especially compared to the in-game browser in BF2.
