BF2 Troubleshooting?

So I install BF2 demo, newest nvidia drivers, directx 9.0c.

I start up BF2 and screen(s) go black, then if I hit a butotn it boots me to desktop.
What is going on?

Is my GeForce 4 ti4600 too weak?

I have the same problem; some things to try are listed in this thread http://www.hardforum.com/showthread.php?t=913277. I've been too busy ripping off fools in GTA: SA to try them yet myself, though.
 
I dont think the 4600 has the right pixel shader or something like that, I remember reading something about it in another thread.

The game will never work for you as the Ti series does not support Pixel Shader 1.4, sorry. You will have to upgrade to play it.
 
I can start the game, and get to the intial menu. But when I try to play Single Player, or try to log in after registering for Multiplayer, the mouse icon changes to a "2", and it just quits to the desktop.

My system:

Athlon 64 939 3500+
Asus A8V Deluxe
1GB PC3200
Radeon X800 Pro
Windows XP MCE2005.

Oh, yeah. I opted NOT to install GameSpyWare. Does that make nothing work, even single player?

That would be my guess. You should just install it, it isn't spyware, just the game browser. It doesn't install anything seperate outside of BF2.

I've done a full scan after installing the game... all clean.
