Battlefield Vietnam 1.2 Patch

I have not played BFV in a few months. I have a totally new system. Maybe the FPS won't be terrible this time and I can play it higher than 800x600.

Still looks like crap on my LCD. The game doesn't let you select 1280x1024, only 1024x768. I complained about this two patches ago.

Fuck you, EA.

I complained about that as well. How can they ignore such a common resolution?

I just played it on the rig in my signature. 1024x768 and the FPS I'd imagine were in the 40s. This is one of the worst engines in the world, Halo is number 2. For an engine that is less impressive than Unreal 2.0, this engine is sure as hell slow. I wonder what we can expect from Battlefield 2. And the game crashed the the desktop after about 15 minutes. What the hell was that all about. They system is rock stable with everything else including all DX9 games. Maybe I should reinstall the patch like the readme suggests since I installed this patch, then the WW2 mod.

Holy shit at 300 MB this patch better get rid of a whole lot of suckiness in this game

Thanks for the patch. Gotta install game sometime this week :)

The new maps are alot of fun, looks like the patch fixes some of the nva's problems also

Unfortunately the patch does not add the feature requested by most Battlefield players - 'fun'.
It's a poorly coded game, and runs like a dog no matter how much fancy new hardware you throw at it.
I pray DICE Canada never get to make another Battlefield game, ever. Just leave it to the Swedish, they've done a good job so far with 42 & hopefully BF2 will follow in its footsteps.

After Battlefield 1942, I had been hoping they would have licensed the Unreal engine but no, they added more stuff to the engine and came out with even a less efficient one. I hope Battlefield 2 does not continue this trend. I can not take much more of this. Like I said, BFV is the worst engine I have seen.

On a side note, I played BFV a few hours ago and there were 3000 people online. How many people are still playing 1942 now days? I have not played that game in at least 6 months.

I got the patch installed last night, and I must say, it's beefed up the fun level X10. The addition of tunnels, sewers, new planes and choppers, and other new weapons is simply awsome. BF:VN lives on, great job Dice! I know I'll be busy with it this weekend.

On a side note, the learning curve of BF:VN for playing well is quite a bit higher than most other FPS multiplayer games. This was evident when it came out, and after playing BF1942. There is nothing wrong with the game's engine, it's just far more detailed, taking into account the physics of weapons fired over distance, having to lead targets, and accurate hit detection. Most that complain about the game's engine can't/haven't taken the time to get the experience to become good.

It probably would be a good idea to follow the directions with the install.

The problem with the engine isn't that I suck, the game just runs very slow. For the level of detail that the game presents, it should run a lot faster than it does.

Faster as in what other game?
BF;V runs awful. Are you blind?

Getting 40fps on the best video cards out there is terrible. Even Far Cry gets better frame rates and it looks a lot better.

I could only run 640x480 with 40's FPS, so I sold it... :D

Was B1942 this bad in it's first year without patches?

You can play at that resolution. You just got to edit the video.con files. There is one for default and another one. Open them up and you will see what to change. I play at 1280x1024 all the time on my 19" CRT. It is BS that DICE made the game without supporting that resolution. The only downside to using 1280x1024 is the font in the game looks like crap.

How in the hell could you only get 40 fps with the rig in your sig?

I was churning out 80fps with my XP2000 - 9700pro - 512MB RAM system before I upgraded to the specs in my sig. This was all at medium and low settings at 1280x1024. The problem with BFV for me has been it is one hell of a memory hog. The best upgrade I did for this game was get a total of 1 gig of RAM. Now I play on highest settings except the texture setting cause of the lag bug when set to highest.

You have something seriously messed up on your system if you're only pulling 40fps in BF:VN, given the specs of your rig.

Are you an AA/AF junkie? I don't use either, it's a FPS gamer afterall, and my fps average is higher than your 40. And I'm using a 2.8C and a FX 5900nu.

I was running 8x AF (I never use AA) at 1024x768 everything at max. It might have been running a little faster, probably 50fps but certainly not 60fps. It was fine for playability but it should have run a lot better then that considering the visual flair.
